If trying to trade Michael Clayton was Mission Impossible, consider a possible trade of T.J. Houshmandzadeh its bloated sequel.

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that Seattle is trying to move Houshmandzadeh. He also points out that a trade is very unlikely because of Housh's contract, which contains $7 million guaranteed this season.

Yes, the Vikings were interested in Houshmandzadeh a year ago. But they drafted Percy Harvin to play the slot and recent acquisition Greg Camarillo is a similar-style player to Housh at a fraction of the price and drama. (Some would argue Camarillo's skill-level is similar now too.)

We highly doubt the Seahawks could find any takers for Houshmandzadeh. The question, then: Could the Seahawks simply eat his salary?

The Seahawks seem oddly determined to keep Deion Branch, but he and Housh are only taking snaps away from young talents Golden Tate, Deon Butler, and Mike Williams.

We asked whether Housh could be cut on Twitter a few weeks back and ESPN's Mike Sando thought there was at least a chance.

That chance, which seemed rather small, appears to be growing.

UPDATE: Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune writes it's believed the Seahawks want to clear salary space to go after Vincent Jackson. Good luck.

If it wasn't for that huge contract this would be a no brainer.

Interesting. Cant imagine why they would want to get rid of him now unless it was to attempt to get cap space for a VJ contract, which they already said they woulndt pay what he wants.

Yeah I had a feeling since the day Seattle first showed interest in VJack that they would try to pawn off Housh on us.

I like the guy, but he's way overpaid for a #2 reciever.

We DON'T need TJ. He's a "ME" first WR, with an attitude. We need VJ or another like VJ to stretch the field.

T.J. Houshmandzadeh won't be back with the Seahawks

The Seahawks would rather pay T.J. Houshmandzadeh huge money to go away than allow him to take another snap with the team.

Just one day after news leaked that the team was trying to trade Housh, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Seattle has decided to cut ties with the receiver after only one season despite owing him $7 million guaranteed this year.

(Schefter reports there is offset language in the deal. Seahawks will have to pay Houshmanzadeh whatever his new team doesn't this year. If the new team pays $1.5 million, the Seahawks pay $5.5 million)

We love the move. Ultimately, Houshmandzadeh was just taking snaps away from young talent that could possibly help Pete Carroll by the time the team is good. There was no chance Houshmandzadeh would have been in Seattle in 2011, and his attitude has been questioned more than once while on the Seahawks.

The most amazing part of the story? Mike Williams is going to be a starting wideout. That Mike Williams.

Some may think Carroll is crazy, but it doesn't hurt to have courage with your convictions. Williams has looked excellent all offseason long and provides a similar possession receiver skill set to Houshmandzadeh.

If Williams doesn't work out, the team still has youngsters Deon Butler and Golden Tate behind him. It's a new era in Seattle, and the team can't get rid of former G.M. Tim Ruskell's mistakes fast enough.

So he could probably be had for league min since Seattle would have to pick up the remainder of his contract, I would get this guy and finally cut ties with Buster.

I am sure that the Skins and Vikings are on the phone with his agent.
