Nearly half the defenders on the field contributed by running toward the ball, some even after it looked like the play might be over. It paid off!
    1) Eric Weddle wraps up Terrence Williams
    2) Crezdon Butler flies in and knocks the ball out
    3) Richard Marshall recovers in the end zone and attempts to run it out
    4) & 5) Cory Liuget and Donald Butler, running toward the action, are there to wall off Marshall and prevent him from making an extremely bonehead play, bringing the ball out onto the field.
    Bada-Bing Bada-Boom!

What is the rule on that? Is it ball or feet? And if feet, does entire foot need to go over line or just a part of it? Looked like a couple inches further with his toe, Marshall is over the line, and then if he goes back in we're looking at 2 pts and the ball back to Dallas.

It's the ball that matters, not the player's body. The ball has to go entirely out of the endzone..... the back of the line isn't enough.

Ball. IF the ball came completely across the goal line, and then he went back in and downed it, it would have been a safety.

I think Blue's answer covers that odd rule nicely.

As soon as Marshall grabbed the ball, I (and I bet 100 other Charger fans) immediately thought:

    "No, not another Darius Reynaud!!!"

One more step forward, and a giant plus could've been a giant minus!

I swear, the Chargers have a compulsive need to make everything stressful. Even their fumble recoveries make me want to pull my hair out.

Still glad we got that ball though!
