Great win. Go Ravens! Gotta keep Denver a least a game back. (Too bad Arizona didn't pull through today)

    First half stats:...PITT SD

    Total Net Yards 216 102

    Net Yards Rushing. 55 8

    Avg. Per Rush..... 3.9 1.0

    Net Yards Passing 161 94

    Game stats: .....PITT SD

    Total Net Yards. 265 341

    Net Yards Rushing 68 119

    Avg. Per Rush..... 3.8 3.8

    Net Yards Passing 197 222

That was a big turnaround in control of the game, stat wise.

Pittsburgh was held to 49 yards of total offense in the second half. SD had 111 second half rushing yards.

This year you got to give respect to our Secondary because this unit is starting to click.

Ints alone are up from last year and Jammer is doing better but still needs improvment so give some props to the secondary.:icon_toast: :icon_party:

I dunno Bro, I think the jury's still out...they made some good plays, but too many times Ben would escape the rush and there be wide open receiver down field.

Still, you're right, the INTs are up, so thats an improvement right there.

Very happy with the play calling. They let Rivers play and remembered that this guy named Antonio is on the team. :icon_toast:

And by boi McCree got a pick. :icon_banana:

Nice job Marty. You let the boy show what he could do and he delivered.

I'm still happy about this win, it took a lot of grit for our team to pull together after the start we had. They did it and we won. It don't get much better than that.:icon_toast: :bolt:

They mentioned it in the "roundtable" discussion in the NBC PreGame Show "Football Night in America", but only briefly.

    Pitt 2nd half points - 0

    SD 1st half points - 7
    SD 2nd half points - 16

I'm not saying that we're going to be sending our secondary to the Pro Bowl but you can't expect ANY secondary to cover for more than 5 seconds.

When you hold a team to 49 yards in a half, the jury is in. The defense, including the secondary, is good. This was a huge game for Pitt. They played with alot of intensity and desperation, and it did not matter. We dominated the game.

Regarding the secondary, alot of the passing yards we gave up came on screens, which is not primarily the fault of the secondary.

I don't recall anyone mentionin it, but Floyd did one helluve to NOT push off in the endzone-he never touched the defender, IIRC it was Townsend.

Yeah, it was similar to the TD pass he caught in 2004 for Rivers' first TD pass as a Pro.

Also, VJ had one catch where he used his size to box out the CB and grab it. It was only for 13 yards, but converted a 2nd-and-13 and kept the drive alive.

I lurk on the message boards of some of the teams we play, and I must say, it is very disheartening to see most of the fans turn to personal attacks against posters, the Chargers, and the city of San Diego. I understand lashing out at Trumpet Man, as stirring the pot is kind of his MO, but there were some well thought out and intelligent Charger posts on the Steelers message boards, and with very few exceptions, they were attacked. Certainly we have some of those kinds of posters here as well, but are football fans truly that mentally soft and bereft of class to resort to profanity-laced, quasi-racist and patently absurd comments?

My hope is that NFL fans in general can elevate the discourse a bit and have some good clean fun. Guess that is wishful thinking.

Pffft....since when did you become Sigmund Freud ? :icon_shrug:

My MO is not to stir up the pot but to call out what I see and feel and if you think it pushes your envelope - too bad.

Oh and drop the messiah complex.
