So since the premise was entirely fictional, one has to wonder if the real goal was just
an excuse to whine again. I have no problem admitting that I don't take 8-8 as hard as I did
2-12 and 1-15. I'm as disappointed in 2011 as anyone, but perspective keeps me from being hysterical.
Take away a freak fumbled snap and the Chargers are 9-7...in the playoffs...like that New York team.
That's not much comfort, but it does illustrate that there is not a huge gap between the current world
champs and our home town boys. We're down and out, but not in the 2-12, 1-15 way...
I'm bummed, but not crying. Early odds show the Chargers expected to be right there in the
fight next year. This is of value to me. Too many years the Chargers were irrelevant virtually all year.
For me, disappointment re. missed opportunities is the appropriate reaction to this season.
I'll save hysteria for 3-13, 5-11, etc. I've learned though, that for some people, that sense of proportion
isn't there. They react to a paper cut as if they'd been stabbed with a bayonet. You see 'em sitting on
the curb, crying, hysterically, and you go over and see if you can help. Then the next day you see
them sitting on the curb, again, crying, hysterically, and you still feel bad for them. On the tenth straight
day that you see them sitting on the curb, crying, hysterically, you start to wonder if they are able
to differentiate slightly bad from tragic. On the 50th straight day that you see them sitting on the curb,
crying, hysterically, you just have to kind of shrug your shoulders and say:
"Guess that's just their thing...not much I can do to help."
(But then they might get mad that you're handling 8-8 more gracefully than they are,
call you names, and start a thread attacking a position that no one has ever actually taken)

You know what this post shows me? Your continuing struggle with reading comprehension, and Concudan'esc penchant for exaggeration. Re-read the original post and try again.

And as far as you're concerned, 60% would be giving you too much credit. You were the one who tried to argue that Norv and his "5 for 5 record Norv has here of being .500 or higher". was good enough, or it somehow made him a success because it was a "welcome improvement" over the last 40 years. This thread was just a friendly reminder of what the real goal is. Its up to you to decide if Norv and AJ are helping us get closer, or if they're part of the problem.

I don't know why it's taken me this long to point this out, but this post is incorrect.

I can think of at least 90 franchises whose ultimate goal is not playing on Super Bowl Sunday.
