The answer that jumps out at me is that the present administration doesn't care that the borders can't be defended. :icon_shrug: :icon_huh:

Don't hold your breath..........Bush doesn't think he has to explain anything to anybody. He is THE LAW in this here country, and if you don't believe it, just ask him.

Besides, he's too busy trying to whip a little democracy on a part of the world that's been at war since Biblical times to pay attention to anything going on here at home.:icon_evil:

I'm sorry to put the whole border problem squarely on Bush is partisan crap IMO. Hell here in northern CA the Democratic party is out signing up illegals to vote; I see it all the time and it's maddening. We CAN secure our border and offer a worker program for people trying to make a better life for themselves and their families (it doesn't get much more American than that IMO). I bet if private industry was in charge we would have a system in place in less than a year (with the usual cries about corrupt corporate America). Leave it to our govt and NOTHING will get done while gazillions of tax dollars will be pissed away. What surprises me is that the govt doesn't take advantage of all the lost income taxes lost to illegal immigrants; Uncle Sam usually doesn't like it when he doesn't get his cut as eveidenced last week with the raid on the large janitorial services company.

I don't believe the whole border problem is Bush's fault either, although I don't see that he's done anything to help matters any. The illegals have been coming across the border since God was a lad......I lived on a chicken ranch as a child, and we had 'em coming to the back door, asking for work and a little food, all the time. This is not a new thing at all. I just had the opportunity to take a couple of cheap shots at Bush, and hating his guts the way I do, I couldn't resist it.

I agree with you that utilizing private industry to solve the nation's problems would be better, and CHEAPER, than government, most if not all the time. (This is why I'm a Libertarian, not a Democrat or a Republican.) There is no problem so complex that the government can't make it even worse by throwing more paperwork and more rules at it. I say put Halliburton and some of those other mega-corporations to work for the American people for a change, and let 'em tackle some of these big issues!

Only to the extent that he's sitting in the chair, do I lay it at his feet. But the actions of his administration on immigration issues jes absolutely floors me.

Nice and I never would have guessed. IMO the government's main job is to protect the American people so some level of taxation is required and I actually support a limited level of socialism for those that can't help themselves. Problem is it's the politicians that are the ones helping themselves.

    From onea my SF Brothers-

    Thought for the day:

"Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensed pharmacist."
