This game goes down to a nail biter. Why? The Bear defense overwhelms our Offensive line. It is a low scoring game with our defense rising to the occassion. Last guy with the ball wins.
4 words: boring offense, sloppy play Note to everyone: Go see SNAKES ON A PLANE. 2 hours of AWESOMENESS!
Rivers took a lump last night, that's OK though. Unlike most QB's, he'll know NOT what to do next time. My biggest gripe: the pace of the game. It just didn't seem right. Rivers did turn it on later, but outside of that, nothing seemed to flow.
Last week, versus GB, we passed like 22 times versus 12 rushes in the first half. So this week, I think Marty decided to run more rushing plays, at least equal to the passing ones in the first half, to try to maintain a balanced attack. I counted the number of rushing and passing plays in the first half, and they were both at 17 (or else off by one if I miscounted). In the second half, that's when we passed more than we ran, with like 16 passing plays to 8 rushing plays.
Why do the coaches continue to try and run up the middle 90% of the time when our backs are better suited (IMO) to going around the corner?!
It's very apparent that we had a vanilla gameplan in place on both sides of the ball and that the Bears had a gameplan that was closer to one that they would have during the regular season. I don't have a problem with that. It doesn't excuse the horrible special teams play, the horrible pass protection, and the poor run blocking (don't look at the rushing yards, take away the 45 yard Turner run which was all Michael and the stats look pretty bleak). What was most disturbing in the loss was that we lost the majority of individual battles throughout the entire game. In summary, I don't mind that the Bears had a better gameplan than us, but I am concerned that they had the visibly better players.
Get an Education, Martyball is not about running up the middle it is about using the run to set up the pass and control the clock. Running around the edge is still a run.
I have it TiVo'd. I'm not sure that I want to subject myself to that kind of misery again. I think I'll just finish watching the first season of Rome instead.
That's just cause they hate their women to have hairy bushes. Got to keep the show historically accurate though.:icon_rofl:
They have already paid for the next season. There will be another, focus on the war between Marcus Anthony and Octavia, who will become Ceasar Agustus.
And a historically inacurate, but popular belief that Cleopatra kills herself with a cobra. Ever notice how Cleo's son (Ceasars son) gets killed just a few weeks after Cleo's death? Removing any challenges to the emporers seat?
