I never thought he would enter, but now that he has, he should be the #1 guy on our board. This guy is a STUD WR who is still only 20 years old. To me, he is the 2nd best WR in the draft (ahead of Dwayne Jarrett, Samardzija and Ginn JR) and will be a top flight #1 WR in the NFL. Every time i watch him, he reminds me of Chad Johnson coming out of oregon st a few years back and i think he will be just as successful as him in the NFL. Rice-Jackson-parker combo would be NASTY for a long time with Rivers throwing the ball. Hopefully he falls (due to his age maybe??) to 32. If he does, AJ should get the card to Goodell faster then the McNeill pick _____ http://youtube.com/watch?v=IcwpbFbHimg http://youtube.com/watch?v=vyTyCnw7AH8
I don't follow college much at all, so i'm forced to take people's words for this sort of thing. In the event we're picking 32 (and we better be...) do you think he's worth trading up for if need be?
Depends how far he falls I'll put it this way, he is better then any WR from last years draft and the Steelers traded up from 32 to 25 to get Holmes. If we are drafting 32, it wouldnt surprise me (or bother me) if we made a similar move. I think the Steelers gave up a 3rd or 4th rounder
That mock draft also has the Detroit Lions drafting first and Calvin Johnson going to where he doesn't want to play.
This mock has him going to KC in the first round before we'd have a chance at him. http://www.djnflmockdraft.com/mock.htm
Yeah, not the most up to date, but they called him declaring for the draft. Most of the other mocks I've read don't have Rice listed except for the ones that have just come out.
This mock is dated 1/6/07 and has Rice going to the Pats at number 28. http://condraft.com/mocks/round-1.html
Ok, last mock I'm going to post for now. This one has Rice going at #15 to the Bills. http://nflexperts.scout.com/2/604532.html
I think we'd be lucky if he even got to 32, I don't get the mocks having Samardzija as a 1st round pick, I know he's good but I doubt a team uses a first on him unless he commits to Football 100%
He might be thin, but he can easily add weight. Plus, being thin hasnt hurt Chad Johnson. I mean, what is he, 6'2 190lbs?
Only MTL had the balls to pimp Rice over Johnson before this college season started. Only MTL :icon_twisted:
I have watched Rice play on several occasions and while he has very good size , hands and leaping ability he gets very poor separation. He doesn't go into or come out of his routes with a lot of speed. I would not trade up for him , I have Bowe ahead of him who has better hands and who is stronger. In fact right now coming out Steve Smith WR USC is more polished WR and should be on the board round 2#. Rice is all about potential. If you want a WR based on potential Dwayne Bowe, Robert Meacham and Craig Davis may have more upside player I want to see is Johnnie Lee Higgins he can scoot like Ginn. Depending on his injury Ginn may slip and that kid can score every time he touches the ball. Iwould not want to trade up for Rice at all but Ginn ......
Calvin will be great , better than anyother wr in the draft and I found him in JR high!
Ginn needs work on his routes but he has what you can't teach huge speed and quicks. He can score from anywhere on the field. Rice isn't real quick and I don't see much in straight line speed. He sure isn't fast in and out of his breaks. He has size , hands and he can get up. I see him very late 1st most likely second round selection. If he runs bad he could slip into round 3 easy.
So could Troy Williamson, doesnt make him worth a damn. Ill take a great route runner with great hands over speed anyday Good! Maybe he can slip to us! Instant upgrade over any WR we currently have not named Jackson
Are you sure we pick at 30? Either way, Ted Ginn is a pipe dream. No player who runs a 4.3 and even has decent talent last til the 30th pick If we want Ginn, we would have to trade up atleast 15 spots, and that would take A LOT!
i doubt any of the marquee WRs fall to you even if it is a deep draft. I dont see AJ ever taking a WR in the first either i see you guys going LB,DT in the first.
We are a long way from the draft and the board will shift some . I have had Russell the LSU QB in the top 5 for several weeks and people told me I was nuts and that he would be lucky to go in the 2nd round . Now everyone has him in the 1st round and a lot of experts think he is the 1st pick. Rice will get passed by Bowe and Meachem .
Rice said that he would only declare for the draft if he were told by the advisory board that he would have a shot at cracking the top 10... ...one month later, he declared.
Good! Let them pass him because of measureables and what not, but Rice is the better player and AJ will see that
