Lets discuss what you saw that was good what was bad:

    Pro's
Rivers; held up today, did not get flustered, played like his is an all pro again
Royal; Welcom to the Bolts, where were you last season
    Woodhead; what a versatile pickup
I want to put someone from the D on the list... but cant think of any.

    Con's
    Secondary; Just FUGLY!
Gates & Mathews; Seriously, hold onto the ball (also see Fozzy)

On a side note, good vibes and prayers to Floyd. Get better, we need you.

Game Ball McCoy and Whissenhunt. Great game called!

    Cons: Turnovers in RZ
    Pags coverage scheme
Floyd's neck (damn that was some serious compression)

    Pros: Everything else

    Pros

Guts/Desire/Fortitude; last few years what happened last week would start a long slow death march. Didn't think Eagles were as good as the hype but still that's a hell of an effort, especially adding the east coast element.
Rivers: Player. That's what we expect out of Rivers. 12/13 on third downs throwing, 3 TDs. He showed some great fortitude too.
Royal: Dear God that's impressive! 5 TDs in two games when he had 5 all last year. Was all he needed McCoy?
Allen: Stepped it up nicely when Floyd went out
The OL: Again, handled the blitzes fantastically, great blocking downfield, good run blocking. I'm thrilled with the progress.
Wynn: Only sack of Vick, you get it
Freeney: Not showing on the scoreboard or stat sheet but he's getting in QBs faces

    Cons

Liuget/Reyes: I'm not seeing squat out of our two great DTs either watching or on the stat sheet
Cox: That's two games that haven't been impressive. I'm starting to get concerned
Mathews: 16/73, more hard running but he's here for the stupid fumble again
Gates: Great game but the fumble and the obvious drops are concerning
Pagano: He might not have much to work with but all the yards constantly are disconcerting

Pros: Malc was money, before the injury (hearing he'll be okay is another 'pro')
    Royal redeeming himself
O-line holding together most of the day
    Novak is clutch.
D did just enough in 1st half to keep hyped Eagle O to 10...and stadium quiet

    Cons: Malc injury
    Fumble monster returns
    Uneven D

    Pros:
    A Win!!
A come from behind in the 4th quarter win!!!
Time of possession and sustained drives
Only one sack on Rivers, no INT's
The team did not fold their tents and quit when things got ugly
Rivers throwing for nearly 400 yards, good job by the recievers
    Clock management was good
    Novak was clutch.
    Oh...did I mention a win?

    Cons:
Injury to Floyd...I hope it isn't too bad
    Ball security
A pass rush that was last seen on the back of a milk carton
    "Cover corners" who can't
A little thin on depth, I hope Tutu is ready to go next week.

We have a "patchwork" roster right now, but they all left everything on the field today. Ugly, but a great game nonetheless.
Note for next week: It looks like the Titans gave the Texans all they could handle until they lost in OT.

Mike McCoy says Malcom Floyd is "doing fine." Tests have checked out. "It was great for the organization to get a win for Malcom."

Pros: we can score points again this year.

Cons: we can't stop other teams from scoring points.

    Pros:
    -Great response after last week.
-Rivers held up, clean pocket, 0 turnovers from him (Though Philly does lack a pass rush aside Trent Cole).
-Kept Philly honest, good balance in the run/pass game.
-Great game plan heading into this one, keep the ball, control the clock limit Philly's fast pace offense. Heading into the 4th they had 40 plays, they had 53 in the first half against Washington last week.
    Cons:
    -Defense's coverage 2 weeks in a row against WR1's.
-2 fumbles that would of resulted in redzone possessions.
    -Floyd's injury.
-Bront Bird. Got burned on Zach Ertz's reception that eventually led to an easy Philly score. 10 yard holding call on special teams, continues to hurt the team. Could of been on the 32 instead of the 22.

I didn't make any prediction on this game, because, well, nothing would've surprised me this time.

But I do want to take my hat off to the Chargers: they faced a team that was supposed to have an
unstoppable (and new---no blueprint yet how to beat it) offense, on a short week, after a heartbreaking collapse Monday night,
on the road, with a dreaded 10am start. That's a lot to overcome. And the boys did. :D

    Pros
    Play calling on offense
Rivers (I say we keep him)
    Royal
    Oline
    Floyd
    Allen

    Cons
    Fumbles
    Sharice Wrong
    The whole secondary actually

BUT, I have HUGE hopes for this team, maybe not this season, but in seasons to come

    Pros
Rivers with one of the best games of his career--76% completion percentage while averaging 9 yards per throw.
The Receivers--Royal, Floyd, Gates, Allen--they all made plays.
The O-line--Kept Rivers clean (mostly) and opened some holes for the backs.
    40 minutes time of possession
Third down offense--10/15 is really, really good.
Third down defense--Despite the Eagles making plays against us, they were only 5/11 on third down, which helped us hold them to FGs.

    Cons
    Lack of pass rush.
    Wright getting burned.
    Red zone fumbles.

Gotta wonder how much Te'o would help this defense...if at all.

More concerning is I'm pretty sure Larry English could not be more inconsequential to this team. Letting Phillips and Barnes walk was foolish.

Think Manti's football IQ is right up there with the best. It's his physical assets that Bama exploited that also was exposed against Seattle in the pre-season that scared me, they were running right at him and he had a tough time getting off blocks.

Its clear we need Te'o back at ILB and Taylor at SS. This makes the DJ Smith release look like a terrible call by the way.

Foot injury, which I suspect is either a high ankle sprain or lisfranc given the duration of his absence.

All he remembers is someone leading him in the direction of the plane that he is supposed to take home. If Chao was still the team doc, he would have had half of brain removed already...

    pros: ERoy awakening
Overall scheme to control the clock and keep Eagles O on the sidelines.
Novak (Tweety would have choked on that last kick)
    Jarius Wynn's takedown of Vick
    Resurgent Rivers

    cons: Secondary
Guys carrying the ball like a loaf of bread
Clary (nothing specific here, I just hate the guy...)

2006 called, they are looking for their Philip Rivers, appears to have jumped forward in time. I say we keep him. Like him better than the 2011/2012 Rivers.

Pro: River's no huddle game management/play calling.
Pro: Norv is not holding this team back any more
Con: WTF about restructuring PR and not signing anyone with the $$$ (sorry, I'm still giddy from the win, that's the only con I could think of right now)

I'm not sure if it is a pro or a con, but which Chargers defender really stood out today? Maybe it was a team effort, or maybe it's a no-name Defense...

Here's some early (2 game) Philip Rivers data that gives me some hope for 2013:

Passer Rating: 115.8 (that's even higher than his peak seasons)
Fumbles: 0 (and, obviously, that implies the even more important, zero fumbles lost)
Sacks: 3 (I'll take 1.5 per game any time...it also keeps down the fumbles/fumbles lost stat)
TD to INT ratio: 7-1 (.5 INT a game is prime time Rivers...and his only INT, while brutal, required a spectacular play by Cushing)

It's obviously too early to draw any significant conclusions--and I have serious concerns about this defense--
but since QB is the most important position on the field, what Rivers has done so far makes me a bit more optimistic
than I was on September 8th...

    Pros:

    Rivers looking in 2006 form
    Royal earning his paycheck
M80's 100+ before taking the monster hit
M80 being able to fly home with the team!
O-Line doing a solid job all day
Defense forcing the field goal in the 4th
Gates looking like his 2006 form as well (And that about the last time he fumbled too)

    Cons:

Still not playing press man and re-directing\slowing the receivers
Not enough pressure as a whole
    Fumbles!!!! Gotta hold the rock.
Shareece getting beat by speed. He is fast but he cant play catch up against someone like that.
