What was that call?

Did anyone else notice that unusual call during the Raiders only scoring drive?

At one point, it was third down as we forced Culpepper to throw an incomplete pass. That should have made it fourth down but the refs made an unusual call that kept the drive alive. I can't remember exactly what was said but something like "we hit the quarterback when he was out of the pocket." I don't believe it was a late hit either. I thought it was a fumble at first.

I thought it was offsides. I couldn't hear the rest of the **** he said.

There was an offsides call against us on that drive but that's not the call I'm referring to.

I know the call...They called it a personal foul over the loud speaker and only gave them 5 yards and another try...I was confused as well....

We had a few drive continuing penalties against us this game...We need to tighten up on our discipline.

That's it. I didn't see what the personal foul was. Did you?

I think they missed called it over the PA... They only gave 5 yards for the penalty...Also, could not find it on the nfl.com play by play game track.

Could have been a non-call? Just an explanation? It appears to be a 4 yard gain right around that fumble.

Any way you slice it, it was a frustrating scoring drive for the defense.

Are you absolutely sure it was on the Raiders offensive scoring drive, that the "weird" penalty occurred? I can watch that sequence again and determine what it was exactly.

I'm pretty sure it was a clarification of a non-call.

I remember the call you're referring to, I was confused as to what the penalty was as well. The ref's explanation didn't clear anything up. :icon_shrug:

Oh, it might have been the one where the ref said "there is no penalty for illegal contact because the QB was out of the pocket".

There was another one where a Chargers defender jumped and caused a Raiders OL to jump. Instead of calling a false start on the Raiders, they called a "neutral zone infraction" on the Chargers, because the defensive player cannot cause the offensive player to false start.
