That's what happens when you don't wait till the game is over to try and make an argument. edit: I know, they "should've scored more" but they achieved the bottom line, mainly with, what do ya know? pitching.
The A's give themselves a chance to win it all every year. That being said, I'm not comparing the Padres to anybody. I'm just pointing out one example of a team that's doing it right...to a degree. There's absolutely no way the Padres can put together a winning team the way the bigger markets do...not without selling the future for what would simply amount to a higher chance at winning it all. The best thing the Padres can do with the system the way it is is put themselves in position to have a shot at winning it all every year. They do that by putting themselves in playoff contention every year. Does the above assessment mean I'm "satisified with competitive"? Not in the sense that that's all I care about. It just means that I know they're doing the best they can. Untill baseball mans up to the tyrants called the MLBPA and adopts a salary cap this is the way it is and the way it will always be.
I FINALLY GOT TO SEE A GAME ON TV!!! Overall I liked what I saw, got great pitching, timely hitting, good defense but, I will still stick to my guns on this........... We need a 30 home run guy !!! :icon_toast: :icon_toast:
How did Young pitch? 3 hits 10k's good enough to win I'd say. :icon_evil: :icon_evil: :icon_evil: This is the theme this year and it's what frustrates Gramp!!! :icon_sad: cubbie dude is a good pitcher though......
But the team won in the end, and that's what matters. This team is winning more often than they're losing. I won't deny the fact that they need better hitting, though. Just saying it's not as grim as you seem to make it out to be. I can't imagine what your take was on this team from 1999-2003, or in the late 80s/early 90s
This team still cant hit. Moores sucks!! I guess they will always be a .500 ballclub and go one and done in the playoffs.
I attended both Saturday and Sunday games! The fireworks were real nice. Also, the motocross guys were amazing before the game. Peavy is a God!
3rd place Arizona would be in 2nd in the NL East, 1st in the NL Central, and would be the wild card if they were in the AL with their current record.
tboltzcali you need to pick up a paper and look at the standings. There is only one team in the NL Central with a .500 record or better. The NL West is doing good this year.
