How many fans out there would love to have their team on a 10 game win streak- with only 1 game left until the playoffs nonetheless? We should be thankful that this team has fought through a ton of injuries and a 2-3 start to find way after way to pull out wins. Just be thankful- only other fans in our position are the Colts fans but they've already won a Super Bowl.
It's called "looking ahead." None of this means squat if we don't win the Super Bowl!!! Ask Patsies fans!!!
Only way I would be extremely disappointed in this team would be if we lost the first playoff game at home. If we win and lose a close game on the road in the afc champ to a probably undefeated colts team-that would be nothing to be ashamed of and I would still call it a very good year for us.
No, I'm critiquing. You also said you don't like the soft coverage. Are you complaining? Many posters in here are fine with multiple playoff wins to define this era and don't care if the Chargers stay in San Diego. Well I'm not one of those!!!
How many fans out there would love to have their team on a 10 game win streak- pick me pick me.....:icon_banana:
it must suck beeing a "fan" and watching 16 games of your favorite team and not enjoying it if they win because it's not a superbowl win
I can't say that I have seen my team win a super bowl either, nor can you btw :icon_tease: even though things are looking great for the Chargers this year, doesn't mean you have had the opportunity to watch your team win a super bowl yet.
I don't think anyone is overly upset with the team. Nobody's saying we suck and need a lot of work. Everybody's happy about the 10 game winning streak and pretty much everyone acknowledges that we are playing great. But there are still a lot of little things we can work on that would help us get that much closer to the Lombardi. I don't see anything wrong with that. With that said, the specific complaints that certain members of this board were making were pretty stupid. There was very little that we did wrong last night.
Seems like you should just skip the entire season every year, and then just tune in if the Chargers happen to be in the Super Bowl. The season is a ride, and right now it's a fun ride. I refuse to sit in my house pouting because a win wasn't perfect, or we haven't won the Super Bowl yet, or whatever. We ALL want a Super Bowl win, if you really think you are special and one of the "enlightened few" who do, then you are just deluded. We will ALL be thrilled if we win it, and we will ALL be disappointed if we don't. I don't think anyone is "fine" with only playoff wins, but many are reasonable enough to give credit for performing well. Hell, we could be in the same boat as the Raiders and never even have a shot. You don't think there is any difference in our situation and theirs?
My philosophy is simple: ANYTHING can happen and any team can win a given game due to a team playing over its head, a blown call, or simply a bad matchup. Therefore, any team has a legitimate chance to win a Super Bowl as long as the team makes the playoffs, so as a fan, I can only have two reasonable expectations for a team: make the playoffs and do not choke away the playoffs. #2 was not satisfied 3 years ago when the Bolts threw away that game versus the Pats. But losing to the Pats and Steelers the past two years was still an enjoyable year from my perspective, since the Bolts played hard, the team showed a ton of grit, and Rivers playing on one leg showed me that we have a QB who is truly special.
Yeah, I was just going to post something similar. Just because someone has an observation to make about an aspect of a game (even a win) doesn't mean they feel like everything is unacceptable. I can be happy with 10 wins and wish they were getting more pressure on the QB at the same time.
What you say is true, but when it comes from some posters, with their body of work here, it's different than when it comes from others. Some people here seem to be unhappy unless they are complaining about something.
It is ironic how we have the guys to get the pressure on the QB, but our line up front cannot occupy the O-line enough to get it. A patchwork D-line can stop the run, at best, but asking them to dominate the opposing O-line to free up our LBs is a bit too much to ask, and perhaps heightens our need for someone like Cody in the draft.
+1 and +rep When I see a poster make a criticism when I have never seen them make a compliment during a 10-0 stretch, it is difficult to really treat it as a credible statement.
To his credit, he's made a lot of "cheering" of sort on facebook and off the forums. And, as I've said before, I agree with what he said in the now locked thread. I didn't really start getting on his case until he started again with the "I'm one of the few who cares about a Super Bowl" nonsense.
Complaining is one thing, not knowing and ignorance is another. Now we've gone from playing a prevent defense to playing soft, which are two different thing's.
Good point--if anything, I am impressed with the grit we are playing with in the trenches and at the line of scrimmage. Sler and Dobbins are both hammering guys up the middle, Jammer is still making wideouts pay for their catches, and both lines are playing hard up front--Hardwick and Dielman forced open some juicy holes for LT last game against a D-line known for holding its own.
