Some abyzmal coaching decisions yesterday. Norv really showed a lack of balls, playing not to lose rather than playing to win. I actually feel kinda sorry for Novak, asking him to kick a 50+ yard FG is far from a certainty, instead of Norv calling 3 run plays in a row practically settling for a 50 yarder, why doesn't he try to get a little closer by throwing a couple of low risk short ones? the answer is because Norv is gutless. Losing this game is on Norv, for yet again being a useless and cowardly tactician.
Did anyone catch the Scott and BR show this morning on radio 1090 AM? According to Kaplan, he was working the game in Pitt last night and got to talking with some Steeler Execs that are in tight with Cowher. The discussion was made that they have heard (Rumor) that Cowher stated he wouldn't mind being the HC in San Diego if he was allowed to bring in his own GM, a former Steelers staff member that worked with him during his tenure in Steeltown. I'm sure that Mr. Spanos would certainly have some food for thought over that one tidbit of information if it were true...
IF it were true (and sadly since it was coming from Kaplan I doubt it, he's a douche) that would be a-ok with me. For arguments sake - lets say this DOES happen. Who do we pick-up as OC/DC? Who else loses their job with the change of coaching staff?
We should completely clean house - get rid of everyone involved with this debacle from the entire coaching staff, right down to the ticket takers, the vendors in the stands, the public address announcer, the guy who fires the cannon in the rare event thnat we actually score, the gardeners who cut the grass and the folks who paint the field for game day - dismiss them all, and just start fresh!
Yeah, I was like, "What, we scored on that kick?!" then the PA announcer stated that it was a miss. Must have been the first time I witnessed that.
From when we sit we couldn't tell if it went in or not. Cannonman trolled our whole section. F that guy.
I'd be intrigued but I have a hard time trusting anything that comes out of Kaplan's mouth. I'd also note that Cowher was handed almost total control of Carolina last season, and Cowher lives in the Charlotte area and has since retiring. If he wouldn't want total control like that in such a desirable (to him) situation, why would he come back to SD?
I can see Cowher bringing in another big name OC/DC Billick and Gruden.. Why not have a 'dream Coaching staff"... I am just saying...
Hopefully it was a farewell tribute to the team, because I think we're all sick of this overrated offensive co-ordinator with a weak personality who is in way over his head being an NFL head coach.
sports media goons would have kittens and then their heads would explode if that happened. well, except for bob costas - he's too classy for such bafoonery.
That would be unbelievable. A couple years too late, but still would take our team up a level. That type of thing is probably never happening if AJ is still here, if he is we probably get another YES MAN coach
Norv really is a nice guy. Probably such a nice neighbor, that shrubs from Carson Palmer's yard grow over the fence in his yard and he doesn't say anything...
Sorry, We fired Marty for failing within 5 years, and are about to fire Norv for the same thing, yet people want Cowher who took 13 years to win in Pitt? Sorry, I will take my chances with an unknown commodity like Payton or Tomlin were when they got hired
I'm going to be happy with almost anyone other than Norv at this point, but Cowher wouldn't be my first pick, unless Dick Lebeau is coming with him. Cowher has a lot of Marty in him, very conservative on offense, and until 2005 a long history of playoff failures.
I have the ULTIMATE solution..... Let's hire Anthony (Tony) Robbins as our HC since we all want a motivational speaker. (he lives there in Del Mar anyway). Than just demote Norv to OC and get a new DC....
I mean Greg Williams, current DC for the Saints. We could use a defensive-minded coach & I'm not overly enthusiastic about some of the retreads mentioned here.
