SAN DIEGO ---- Say, didn't you used to be Ricky Williams? When the Chargers shoot for their sixth straight victory today against Williams and the Miami Dolphins at Qualcomm Stadium, they will find a changed man in the Dolphins' backfield.
"He looks thinner to me," Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer said of Williams.
The 5-foot-10, 226-pound Williams vanished into thin air last year, leaving the Dolphins just before training camp to travel the world and get away from a sport that had showered him with millions.
He had grown weary of the cash-and-carry lifestyle of an NFL running back. So Williams waved good-bye, leaving his teammates in a lurch ---- and his reputation in tatters.</blockquote>
