I borrowed that from Conc, because it IS pretty much how I feel. The Bolts are my team and that is the end of it. So where to go from here, rebuild with or with out Rivers. A lot of teams see Rivers as an elite QB, so he might be worth two number one draft picks if we the Bolts were to make a trade. Draft picks are useless if you have an idiot at GM. So replacing Smith and his imbecile of a Head Coach are top priorities.

The real question is whether or not Rivers can return to the form he displayed from '06 thru '09. I believe that if they could surround him with the type of players they had from that time this team could really return to a true Super Bowl threat caliber of a team, or he could go the route of Carson Palmer who clearly was a very talented QB who has never recovered from the Broken leg inflicted upon him by the Steelers in that Playoff game (whenever that was).

Personally I hope the Chargers stick with Rivers. I don't have a lot of time left on my clock so I am worried about being around when and if the Bolts return to the realm of being a Super Bowl contender.

Good to hear BW. this is a rough year. Usually I am one of the mose tunnel vision Charger supporters out there. This year it is very frustrating that I feel I cant defend this team. Sure we got some exciting players and flashes of WHAT WHAT! But over all, I feel let down by the team.

I will still root for them and wear the colors, but they are making it hard to emotionaly get behind them this season.

Just curious, what players are you referring to? If you are talking about the line, I 100% agree. But if you are referring to VJ, the you must have forgot about 2010 which was Rivers best year of his career, and while VJ was at home whining about a new contract

Maybe Rivers needs a QB coach to help him fix those little nuances like the touch on his throwing when delivering short passes. Maybe hire a mentor-type of coach, someone who was once famous.

    Win. I'm a Charger fan.
    Lose. I'm a Charger fan.
Tie? Go **** yourself a tie, they should be outlawed in pro sports just for how weird they are to read on the standings. The Flames are 4-5-3....what the hell does that even mean?

That should come from the QB coach or OC, not the head coach

I agree with most of this, but I’m not yet ready to cut the cord with our GM, and I seriously doubt if we would even get one 1st round draft pick in exchange for our turnover machine aka Philip Rivers at this point, much less two.

A.J. Smith has done at least a competent if not good job in his decade or so as an NFL General Manager, and I would only dismiss him if we could replace him with someone who is more accomplished like Bill Polian. Smith was named NFL Executive of the Year once, and if we released him, some other team would likely hire him in the same role for them.

Philip Rivers is still a talented NFL quarterback, he was having a great day in Tampa but in almost every single game he makes at least 1 terrible decision followed by a subpar throw, and sometimes we get away with it unscathed like Thursday night against Kansas City, but more often than not we are made to pay dearly for these lapses like on Sunday, and in several other games. This is unacceptable from a QB of his age & experience, and if Norv had any balls he would bench Philip for a series or 2 after a boneheaded rookie mistake, like he does with Mathews for about 3 weeks after every fumble.

The Bengals were able to fleece the desperate Raiders a few years back in the Carson Palmer trade, because they were dealing from a position of strength and Oakland was not. I doubt if we could find a trading partner who is so needy & foolish, we could possibly get 1 first round pick in exchange for Rivers, but nothing more. If we were to get multiple picks, it would likely be a 2nd & a conditional 3rd or 4th or something, and that just wouldn’t be worth it for us.

Chargers fan since the way-back days, so I can remember worse times than this. The Harland Svare years sucked especially badly.......I can recall watching drunken 'fans' pouring beer all over the coaches and players as they walked back to the locker room after a loss. It was horrible. So was the team. But we've torn down and rebuilt, torn down and rebuilt, torn down and rebuilt again, and it's time to tackle the job once more. Players age and get hurt, coaches come and go, trades and drafts change a team's composition. It's simply time to take the Chargers apart and examine the team in the cold light of day, instead of covering everything up in bull$#!+ and calling it dessert.

No such epitaph for me. I never knew of the pro football world before the San Diego Chargers sent a few player's and highlight reels to my school. I was in the second grade, Speedy Duncan was introduced and the film was shown and from that point on it was and has been all Chargers.

In the mid 70's I adopted the Stillers as a second team of interest as the only team I knew of willing to trade blows and cheap-shots with the hated Raiders. The Chargers always have been and always will be the team my loyalty is with through thick and thin 100%.

The Lombardi hoisted above a victorious Bolt's team would be the greatest return for years of my fandom to this team. I have many fond memories through the years with this team, even the down times have had their share of good fortune, a player blossoming into a stud and a renewed hope for the next season.

When my summers run out there will be no question in my mind, heart or spirit of the team I was so proud to carry all that comes with being a loyal fan of, The San Diego Chargers.

I don't think this team should be torn down and rebuilt (as in trading Rivers, Gates or whoever for draft picks)

A new HC, maybe a new GM (if AJ can bring in a good candidate for the HC position I'll stick with him until Spanos junior is ready), a couple of Olinemen in the draft (maybe a FA) and this team is competitive

    Christmas list for the draft
round 1: the best shutdown corner available
round 2-3: beef (add them to Troutman and we might have something)
    round 4: MLB
    round 5-7: BPA

Norv is the OC...not his official title, but we all know he runs the offense.
Ramsdell is a pretty good QB Coach and Norv has always been good with
    teaching QB's.
The problem then lies somewhere else. And the consensus is....the offensive line.
Plain and simple, short, sweet and to the point...they suck (as a unit).

Anyway....this talk about PR and Norv and the O-line has all been played out.
    Go Bolts!
Eff you Donkeys and horse-tooth Elway...

I agree with so many on here, it makes me feel less detached as a Outside SD charger fan for life to know that im not alone. please fire norv. And fans please realise in spite of AJ being the guy that dumped Norv manure on this franchise for half a decade, he is in fact still a top 10 GM of NFL teams. Honestly anyone realy ready to ditch on the Coach is understandable, but to hit the PANIC button on the Coach, QB, GM, and as this hatred circle has grown over the years, even the Spanos family would be jus goin crazy.

Pretty sure first time ever agreeing with Lance. :=() BUT hes not crazy. *I know cuz we can tell our own kind and Lance is either Crazy free or a different breed of crazy than I.* Either way this year is lookin more and more like a NFL orchestrated Tom Coughlin Scenario/RIGGED SB situation..... POSSIBLE in SDs favor/??

There's always the unspoken assumption that anyone who supports a team when they are crap is somehow a better fan than others, but I don't really see that at all.

And no doubt at the end of this season, just like last, there will be people shouting down anyone critical of the organization and saying they aren't true fans if they don't support them. But is that really how the best fans act?

I'm forever a Charger fan but that doesn't mean I am happy with what I am seeing from the team and that I think the team needs a serious overhaul in leadership and talent. It's no different than in 2001 & 2003 for me

Might be time to see us start running a big boy hurry up offense. It'll slow down the pass rushers a bit.

    Deflect, deflect, deflect.

When was my last gripe about the unis? Other than mentioning the disco collars earlier this year, I don't think I have brought it up as much as you have brought up that once upon a time I griped about them.

"Pissing and moaning about everyone else?" Examples please. B4L was an annoying twit, and you are a bag wearer. Who else have I pissed and moaned about? Oh yeah, nobody.

Just hard to listen to "I will still root for them and wear the colors" from a bag wearer.

Then dont listen. Stop being a jack wad about it. Who made you the spirit police of the Chargers? No one.

While you are displaying your arogance, looking down your nose and trying to tell others what to do and how to go about their daily lives maybe you need some enlightenment if that is possible. Those bag wearing fans are still fans. The people in NO who went to the Saints games wearing bags WERE STILL THERE! They were still buying tickets. They were still supporting the team, and trying to find some humor in the poor situation.

The fact that you are so up tight that you cant see any of this is very telling about you. So really, please if you cant listen, dont. Just dont think that you have done anything to put you in a position to dictate how I should do anything. You have not.
