Sorry Tyce... I have to disagree with your entire rant with the exception of the brutal temperature part. Texas is no picnic either... but they manage to play football there. The Qataris will get it sorted... and if I'm working there during the WC... you are more than welcome to join me.
You really think the terrorist threats won't be worse there than other upcoming WC's like Brazil, Russia etc... Why would you be working in Qatar? Doing TV feeds to Canada? I'm definetly going to Russia for the WC. Great location for it.
Futbol Al Abbas went 1 win 2 losses and a draw... (against Sir Boltfan)... Football Al Abbas was 3 wins and a loss... (against FCBolt)...
Well because Qatar would be the best chance for terrorists from neighboring nations to gain entrance to Qatar, blend in with Qatarians/Arabs without looking suspicious, and be able to inflict mass damage. No friends at the Kremlin?
***Let me expand on my previous reply. I'm not stupid enough to think only Arab's are terrorists, nor am I rascist against them. That would be quite short-sighted. I have never been to Brazil, nor can I say I know their customs, enemies... etc, so I have no idea what sort of terror threats Brazil would have to deal with. I have been to Russia 4 times now, and I can tell you it isn't THAT easy to gain access to the country for suspicious people, or people from non-allied countries. Their terror threats mostly come from the Caucusus. After having an evening with a Russian police official and learning about the history of the problems between Russia and the Caucasus, entry into mainland Russia is not easy for them, especially since those punks triggered the bomb at Domodedovo airport. However, an Arab would look extremely out of place in Russia, but not in Qatar. I can't even imagine how Qatar would even try to use discretion of people coming in and out of the country.
My opinion on Qatar getting to host the world cup. It would be like the NFL saying the Superbowl in 2015 will be held in Dublin. On a seperate note, I have just booked my flights to Leeds and will be in Elland Road on Saturday Dec 3rd to see them play Millwall.
Gentlemen. I have spent a good deal of time in Qatar. It is an advantage for me in this case and I do realize not everyone can have been everywhere when formulating opinions. The 2022 WC will be a success. Security in that country is extremely good. And besides... people do not have to "look" like Arabs to be terrorists.
Mario is an extraordinary talent. He can score amazing goals. I think he has a brilliant future ahead of him.
Then for City's sake, they better hope he gets his head screwed on straight. Did I see it correctly when he scored against Birmingham, that not 1 City player congratulated him?
As for the bolded part, I did clarify that in one of my posts. I admire your optimism behind Qatar, you are definitely one of the few that seem to be. Unfortunately, we are 10 years away from that WC, so the success of it will have to wait until then, but I believe the attendance will be the lowest in recent WC's. That's if Qatar will retain the WC. I know there have been talks since the award, the vote was bought off. If that ever gets confirmed, Qatar will be stripped of the event. I can tell you one country who can "step" into the role of hosts.
He leaped into the arms of Mancini at the bench when he scored against Everton. Mario is usually pretty emotionless when he scores. The scribes make a big deal of his behavior because they need something to write about. I think you will see that he will mature into a special player. Right now he is like a big kid away from home for the first time. But you can see his progress. Dzeko needs to be more consistent to keep his starting place.
I'm guessing you either mean England or Australia. Those were the only other nations with good bids that haven't hosted recently.
Funny reactions. Even the Aussies poked fun. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/ne...-qatar-world-cup/story-e6frev00-1225965274028
I am sure Qatar will keep it. Doha is an up and coming city. Apparently it has changed a lot since I was there.
City is the center of the football world currently. Can't say I am enjoying any of this attention. http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/engla...los-tevez-could-be-banned-from-football-fifa-
Well a huge night for Shamrock Rovers in the Europa League, they are in White Hart Lane to face Spurs. Nice article in the Irish Times this morning about Rovers centre back Dan Murray who grew up in Cambridge and used to attend White Hart Lane as a kid to watch Spurs.
Yeah... both Rovers' center backs were spectators on that one. NOW they have a 2nd one! Defoe this time.
