Well that was a turning point which changed the game forever. Before it was easier for clubs to restrict the flow of foreign players. It was the dawn of the soccer version of free agency. Arsenal sells Samir Nasri... (a Frenchman)... to Man City for 24 mil. GBP, because if his contract expires he becomes a free agent and they get nothing for him. All of that relates back to the Bosman ruling. It also struck down the three foreigners per side quota as illegal within the labor guidelines of the EU.
One day... while we sit a bar, I would gladly take notes on any knowlege I can learn from your depth of experience in european soccer. The fact that you worked in Germany alone, tells me I can learn a lot.
ahhh... and it already seems impossible for my FC Eintracht Bamberg smokey beers to get promoted to this league given they currently sit 13th in the league below. Strikingly, even if they did, Stuttgarter Kickers appear to get promoted to the 3. Liga anyhow. Maybe someday we will get that FC Eintracht v Stuttgarter Kickers matchup.
Glad to be of service sir. It is a fascinating game. The neighbor's wife... (Tottenham fan)... just returned from vacation and I couldn't help mentioning that she had missed a good match last weekend. Her response was... "ahhh shaddap!"
The are three Regionalliegen... Nord, Süd and Ost. Only the winner of each is promoted to the 3. Liga. Last year the Kickers finished second. They were tenth (or eleventh) at the winter break, but made a late run which fell one game short. On the last day they needed to win and have Darmstadt lose. As it turned out the Kickers managed only a draw while Darmstadt won anyway. Still a ways to go. Kickers need to maintain closer distance to that top spot this year as to not finish second again.
Actually 3 fourth divisions and 1 third. The Stuttgarter Kickers were included in the original formation of the 3. Liga. Unfortunately they finished dead last. Relegation is easy. Getting promoted back is mighty difficult indeed.
Sure you couldn't. Was reading some Totty message boards last week when studying a transfer I had to make. Something about a lazy Russian not pulling his weight...hahaha.
Excuse me... I meant (3) 4. Liga's with 18 teams each. I will rally on the Smokey beers for a late run to the top for promotion.
Speaking of crushing blows Sandy... your Slovenians were dealt a blow by Estonia. Making the Final 16 in Euro 2012 looks bleak for them.
Who will be the next England National Team boss? http://www.soccernews.com/who-will-be-the-next-england-boss/78801/
Well I have to go train some new referees tonight. Do you think I should tell them that Offside is when the defender crosses the LOS before the ball is snapped? No, they probably wouldnt get it...
we got a nil all draw. The Republic were crap as usual, however with Armenia defeating Slovakia, if the Rep ireland win their last 2 games we got at least a playoff spot, which aint bad for a crap team
This hasn't happened since '58 when the Rags (Man U.) lost their team in a plane crash. The entire KHL hockey team Lokomotiv Yaroslavl was wiped out as their flight ended in the Volga River just moments after take off. One player survived... (for now anyway... he is in grave condition). http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=375297
That was a good team... contenders for the KHL title for sure. It seems just surreal that all those guys are gone.
