Had a feeling a soft goal would win it ............. any chance Chelsea may put someone forward now or are they satisfied with a 1-0 defeat ?

    Great header by Drogba though.

My coffee's on too. Ditto on Drogba. The less fortunate of the two goals... but completely against the run of play.

Robben fails from the spot. That would have been a cheap winner.

You are not a n00b Tyce. You know the game is about seizing the moment and Bayern failed.

The Bundesliga shall remain the best in your heart. Objectively... well... ahem.... :D

    Who won ???

Chelsea on penalties I see .................. and they were 3-1 down in that too ?

Well, that's a win by fate if ever there's such a thing.

Needed the sleep moreso than the 20 minutes it was going to take for the shootout and just hate that option to decide a game of any sort, let alone a Final of that magnitude.

Play the game till the last man's standing if needed, its their profession afterall and to take the easy option of penalties is nothing but a piss-poor shortcut that leaves a bad taste in any fans mouth.

Sounds like the guy is a heavily infected Gooners fan... (which I am not). :D

Comparing Germany and the U.K. is difficult because there is so much I like about both. The broad sweeping generalization for me is that when it comes to fun and games... I'd favor the U.K. Anything serious or requiring a certain intellect... I'd go with the Germans. The Broadcast industry I work in is an exception to that rule. That is because it was suppressed for decades in Germany by the WWII victorious powers... (fearing the rise of another Goebbels)... and it took until the late '80s, early '90s before it was allowed to start to catch up. It has meanwhile passed the Americans, but has a long ways to go to meet the British standard.

I suppose so Jack. The weird thing about Fußball in general is that in the penalty shoot out it is suddenly transformed from a game which it is the inherently most difficult to score in... to a game where it is then most difficult to prevent a score. The goalkeeper can only make an educated guess as to what the shooter is going to do. Petr Cech got it right with Schweinsteiger and just might have got a finger on that ball to deflect it onto the post.

Congrats Chelski. From a neutrals perspective a thoroughly entertaining game on Saturday night. Chelsea played a blinder, particularly in defence, players were throwing themselves to block shots. Ashley Cole and Gary Cahill were brilliant. Interesting point, Chelsea get their first corner in the 87th minute, bang!! Goal. Bayern were poor in the Chelsea third of the field. Their final delivery was shocking at times. Then replacing Muller as soon as he scores with a defender. Shoulda left Muller on the field. Methinks they thought they had the thing won.

Well the domestic season is finished, now roll on Euro 2012. Republic of Ireland players gathered in Dublin over the weekend. Game at home early next week against Bosnia then they are off on their travels. I believe they will be spending some time in Italy, then travel to Budapest for a friendly against Hungary before heading on to their base in Poland. Thousands of Irish fans are making the trip.

Most correct post regarding the CL Final.

On to the Euro's. I will know next week if I will be off to Poland. Hope I will get the time off work from my client. I really want to go.

Drogba confirms he will leave Chelsea this summer. From hero to adios in mere seconds...lol

Timothy Chandler of FC Nürnberg rejects the call up to the US Mens National Team. Quite odd as he said he wanted to play for the USA. I'm not sure he would make the German World Cup squad so I don't know what's happening there.

Apparently adios was agreed upon some time ago... but both sides held up with making it public to avoid distraction from the CL efforts.

He has no confidence in the manager. He will return when Bruce Arena or Bob Bradley are rehired. :D
