It's getting a little annoying that you type pffft every time you fart.

My suggestion is to just take a break from typing for a moment.

WX report from CCGs necka the woods-

    Gents,

I managed to survive the regularly scheduled severe thunderstorm again. I've just finished cutting up and hauling pecan limbs out to the street for the town to pick up. Lots of chain saw noise throughout the neighborhoon so I guess some others must have lost some larger limbs than I.

Mine were mostly 3 and 4-inch limbs and about 17 tons of dead limbs and twigs so I cut them up with the Swedish bow saw. Unfortunately, I didn't find any squirrel carcasses amongst the junk.

But I did observe one squirrel during the height of the thunder, lightning, and deluge. He was plastered, head down, on the side of the pecan tree which is opposite the back door. Every time the 60mph winds would shift, he'd edge around the tree to get out of the worst of the rain. I would have thought that he'd be facing up the tree instead of facing downwards but, obviously, I don't understand squirrel thinking. He stayed plastered to that tree trunk until most of the storm subsided and then went up the tree and off who knows where.

Mr. Red Ryder and I didn't think it appropriate to shoot the lil' f**k while he was getting drenched. When he finally went up the tree he was a sorry, wet lookin' lil' sumbitch.

There was so much lightning that I had to cease and desist my painting of wood duck boxes out in the shed / garage. That garage suffered a very near miss back in the late '50's while I was at ECU (before they threw me out.)

There was a garden behind the garage with some corn that was full grown. Mother had just driven in the garage in the '55 Chebby. It was raining so hard that she left the groceries in the car and came in the house. Just as she closed the back door, lightning struck the garden. The porcelain light fixtures in the ceiling of the garage exploded and some of the shrapnel penetrated completely through the trunk lid, the roof, and the hood. It burned all the wiring out in the garage so she called the fire department when she saw all the smoke in the world rolling out the garage door.

The lightning must have danced around in the garden for a spell because there was a patch about 20 x 30 feet that was dug up so you could stand in the holes up to your knees. Some of the corn stalk root balls were blown completely over the house, across the street, and onto the front porch and the roof of the house diagonally across the street. Oddly enough, there was no damage to the three pecan trees which are adjacent to the garden. Go figger. But the vacuum created by the lightning displaced the bottom of the back wall of the garage three feet straight backwards. Just sucked it straight back

Sun's out now so I'll have to go look at sunset and see where the sun sets on this, the longest day of the year. It's setting as far around to the right today as it's going. Starting tomorrow it'll start working back around to the sou'west.

Y'all need to go check the sunset to see where it sets so you'll know which pine tree is the "right-most" tree.

Reg from Williamston, NC, seeing more storms headin' this way on the teevee

I hate rain. The party hut is going to require some airing out. Even after today's it still stayed out by about 4 inches or so but it is a little damp feeling. The floating dock was a little unhappy at the angle the bridge was at but it still has a bit of room for more. The wind was a problem though.

We don't get waves like that unless there's a hurricane coming.
