thats a well coached lineman, he was instructed that the snap count was on "3" and he is not going to move until he hears that third snap count.
Can anybody explain what the **** is actually going on there? The left guard doesn't move until his defender is literally behind him. Left side of the line doesn't get off with the snap either... So it must have come earlier than it was supposed to... I mean seriously... WHAT THE ****?
Good point, I didn't even notice the left guard and left tackle who were EXTREMELY late off the snap. I would have loved to hear what Bowden or Fisher had to say to these guys after this.
That is what I think too. He was probably chewed out in practice for false starts so he was going to wait for the right snap count come hell or high water.
From what I've read those lineman are trained not to move until they hear the correct count by the QB. You can find other plays where they do this to make sure the other team gets called off-sides, not them. But in this case the QB called it wrong and screwed his own lineman up, the other linemen figured it out and got moving, that one guy was either too disciplined or dumb to realize it was his own QB's mistake.
Still stuck in 2000... huh?!!! BTW... did you fill out the ballot correctly?
Maybe there was a strategy to it... it might have got the defense taking second looks and saying WTF?!!!
This is correct. They had been doing it earlier in the game to get offside penalties on UF. It worked. The linemen were taught to do a "freeze" and then the d-line would jump offsides on hard counts, i guess. This time, Florida either figured it out, or maybe the center messed up. But why the guy didn't move a muscle the whole time is hilarious. I guess he technically did what he was supposed to, but there is a time for common sense.
