When I was at minicamp a few months back, I saw something that just made me shake my head. I'd seen it before at games, and never understood why someone would do this. At camp I'd had enough, and made a point of saying something about it, and dude got pissed, but he brought it on himself. What was this? The black Chargers jersey. Who in the blue f u c k would buy a black Chargers jersey? The Chargers have never, ever had a black jersey, and black is the color of the freaking Raiders. What kind of Chargers "fan" would wear such an abomination? I would go so far as to say that anyone wearing a black Chargers jersey is really a closet Raider fan who should immediately forfeit any claim to being a Charger fan. And any true Charger fan that witnesses such an insult should speak up and throw shame upon these pseudo fans. Maybe then they will get it and ditch said abominations.
I agree at the hideousness of these jerseys and generally the first thing that pops in my head is Raider colors. I personally wouldn't ever consider wearing such a jersey. However, I'd much rather have a guy wearing a black jersey cheering for the Bolts, than a guy wearing a Raider jersey. So long as he's a Charger fan, I won't cast further judgment on his loyalty. Perhaps "taste" is another topic.
in case anyone was wondering what this looked like <img src="http://www.fanzz.com/ProductImages/66554.jpg">
Seen it and thought the same exact thing. most likely an old Raider fan who can't take the losing anymore.
I've seen a black one, but it wasn't like that. The rest of the colors weren't changed, so it was essentially an away jersey in black instead of navy blue. Actually, I searched around for one a few years ago but could never find one. I liked it. That one, on the other hand, is quite hideous.
I guess I just see it differently. A black Chargers jersey is an insult to the team, and I can't believe that anyone who is a REAL Chargers fan would even consider such a thing. I mean, black just screams Raiders, and what self respecting Chargers fan would go with a black jersey?
Why would they make a black one? I wouldnt buy one ,myself and dont see why anybody would. Bad taste indeed but some people just like to be diffeent. imo its a waste of money.
I get all that. My astonishment comes from the fact that although it's a fashion trend, it would seem like anyone who is truly a Charger fan would have such an aversion to black jerseys that their loyalty to the team would rise above a weak attempt at fitting in with the other sheep. Maybe it's just me. Heck, I'm just a diehard fan/old man, maybe I'm just not cool enough to wear Raider colors with bolts on them so that I can be a part of the fashionable crowd.
Relax Bro, there's abuncha young'ins here, and they're not all gonna share your indignation. Doesn't mean they're not true fans. To me, it's kinda like those kids that think it's cool to wear their pants down below their hips, almost to the point of falling down.
Perhaps. I have 32+ years of despising the black jersey, and it bugs me to see the beloved bolts displayed that way. I guess if I had only been a fan for awhile, it might not be as big a deal.
Some of us were around during the first Balboa Stadium days, so there's plenty of us ol folks around. I gave up tryingta gauge fashion when my sons wore all black.
That's going a little far. Don't you think? I personally wouldn't buy one of those black jerseys but I would hardly say "anyone wearing a black Chargers jersey is really a closet Raider fan who should immediately forfeit any claim to being a Charger fan." The more fans we have, the better. Even if they're bandwagoners!! Come to think of it, about 70% of fans at a sold out game are bandwagoners. If a team like the Steelers went through a tough era like us and made a bad investment on a player like Leaf, fans would bail the same way.
Nah, I don't think it's going a little far. If it's more important to be all gangsta and wear Raider colors, than to wear their team's colors, then they should just buy a Raider jersey. But then again, that's just my opinion.
