Haha I'm a poor university student so I need cheap efficiency with booze. $40 for a 26 of 75.5% alcohol seemed like a good idea on paper but my body couldn't step up it's game.
Listened to the interview. No doubt about LT is a legend but his exit is starting to get ugly. He needs to face facts and stop moaning. If he still wants to play next year just say that but don't start whining about not being used correctly etc. We were winning period. STFU. You are about to become a dad, you are set for life, you're a Hall of Famer. End of.
Sad to think of LT leaving but the time has come for a change. AJ screwed up and let Turner walk. I like Sproles but the team would have been better off letting him go and keeping Turner, his style fits better with what they need. Now AJ has the chance to draft/trade for Lt's replacement... Let's see what he comes up with. BTW isn't it strange that the team could possibly lose 3 of the 4 guys in the Bolttalk banner at the top of the page?
Last year LT used the media to try and make his case... he's doing it again this time, too. That sucked last year and it'll suck this year. The only thing that kept him around was Spanos. But even he isn't going to pay that bonus of $2 million. This reminds me of when Tony Gwynn was nearing the end. watching the decline was painful and all the talk about him going to another team ripped the city up at the time. I don't think LT takes a pay cut (although all that talk he's doing may just be bluster and a smokescreen) to stay here and I almost hope he doesn't. I doubt he thinks he's done and accepting a backups role isn't going to sit well. Remember the hissy fit he threw when he got taken out on 3rd down in that goal to go situation early this year? We absolutely need to have some type of running game that other teams have to worry about. Keeping him the backfield and having him tote the ball again- even in a limited role- is not going to be effective. Like we saw Sunday.
I seriously doubt his financial value is what he cares about. He has made a ton. He wants to go somewhere that has a coach who actually knows how to manage a running attack and actually respects the importance of running the ball. By the way, I am new here. I am Brecks brother (The OP)
I like how Norv's suddenly under attack for not caring about a run game. I'm sure LT's 3.3 yards per carry this year was Norv's fault.
I know, didn't want ot have to change my name, and am not creative enough to come up with something better. haha
YOU SAID IT!!! Norv moved this team away from the Power Running team that we were and LT suffered big time! There is every reason to believe that LT would still be getting giddy numbers now had Marty still been here
Exactly. Norv Turner is personally and directly responsible for LT aging and getting a measly 3.3 yards per carry this year! If only we still had Marty LT would stay forever young.
don't put words in my post. I just said he's never been the same. Performance aside. LT has NOT been the same player he was BN (before norv)
I was more responding to scratchnz who flat out said it was because of Norv that LT's production went to ****. That being said, when you put Norv into the statement (as opposed to just saying he hasn't been the same the past three years) the implication is there that it's because of Norv whether or not that was your intent.
I do think Norv is a large part of the reason, as is LT's age. In a Marty type Scheme, LT could easily be a 1000 yd rb. But that means he averages only 62.5 yards a game over a 16 game season.
LT's stats probably would be a bit better under Marty, but would they be that much better? He was still averaging 3.3 yards per carry. I don't care who's system it is, that's not a good average.
Got it. Good point. My take is the philosophy of the Chargers changed. No surprise there. That being said, I think LT lost more than a step when the coaching staff changed. Maybe I'm in left field here, but he never looked like he had the same fire after changes were made. No blame on Norv.
Really, people act like 2006 was the norm for LT under Marty. In 2005 LT's numbers were very similar to 2007 (first year under Norv), and it was also similar to 04. In 2008 LT's ypc was better than it was in 2004. So during LT's 1st 2 seasons with Norv he put up similar numbers that he had before his career year. So you guys can blame Norv all you want but he isn't the reason for LT's decline, and Norv was smart to move this offense to more of a passing offense, Rivers is the future not LT.
Holy crap, I'm playing the Spaceballs drinking game sometime. http://www.lazydork.com/movies/spaceballs.shtml
They took that lazydork site down. :icon_sad: I hadn't used it in about 6 or 7 months and was going to look for a good one tonight.
