Yahoo: Record prices may have silver lining for oil-thirsty US Can someone say SPIN? Sure it's important to look at conservation and alternative energy, but these current oil prices are artificial. We are being gouged pure and simple. We will continue to be gouged and the oil companies will continue to have record profits unitl we reach a pain threshold high enough that we do something. Sure, we'll bitch and whine, but nothing will happen until the American consumers really get angry. We are still to comfortable for that to happen anytime in the short term and the oil companies know it.
