A lot of fans have been hyper critical of teh Chargers front office. They have hit the ground running after the lock out, signing UDFAs, and inking many of the vetrans in short order. I can understand a lot of the complaints, but so far it appears to me the Chargers are quickest out of the gate and are serious on being ready to play once the season comes... now if they can get past slow starts I may faint...
They're doing very well so far and I like the signing of spikes. Especially nice to see them on the move and charging hard to fill their needs. Some teams look like they don't know what they're doing
Now if we can get a solid OLB to lineup opposite Philips today it'll be a damn good day for us. I want Lawson! I feel good about two former 49ers reuniting with their previous defensive coordinator, it just feels like a recipe for success.
So much for that. On to Barnett or Morrison. If THEY're not being too greedy.... I bet we stick with English/Barnes at SOLB (if Barnes isn't too greedy...) Weddle's greediness throws a bit of a curveball at the FA craziness.
One would hope other teams told him to shove off and realism's smacking his agents around a little. Agents can be immune to that kind of thing though...
I'm very happy to bring in a few upgrades. Signing Weddle seemed the right thing to do but I don't know about top money? The potential of Sanders and Weddle sharing center field gets me pumped. Hopefully Spikes and Siler can sure up our middle lb's all season?
Number 1 free agency move that needs to happen from this point on. 1. Sign a OLB Preferably Manny lawson, we need to help Shaun with the pressure 2. Some one really needs to sign sproles he is no value to us now that we have toddman 3. NT is still a big concern for me at this point i am looking around and i dont really see any viable options for this posistion, i would prefer a leader to teach Cam, any suggestions, " and garay was a fix last year but is not the answer for this year" 4. our rookies need to benefit from great leadership
I'm happy with what we've done over 2 days, but I still kinda feel like we haven't improved, only paid to stay the same.
Sure, but I know I'd rather have Burnett than Spikes, now we're starting an unknown quantity in Butler or Mouton...So that evens out. Losing Floyd weakens the WR corps, and Sproles' roles will be taken over by rookies. Other than strong safety with Bob Sanders we havent really improved any positions.
That's what happens when you have 22 free agents....... can't keep them all. Overpaying to keep Weddle will likely mean Burnett will sign elsewhere. There's only so much cap room, but the young guys will have to step up and contribute sooner.
We haven't exactly been killing the competition with all them guys you mentioned in the past few years either.
