The list was sent to me from one of my friends. I knew most of them. I never heard Hillcreast called the Swish Alps. We always call it Gaycrest. :icon_rofl: I do remember the Old Globe fire. Do you remember the PSA flight 182 crash? Grossmont Class of 81.
I remember hearing of PSA flight 182 and worrying that my cousin, a flight attendant for PSA at the time, was on that flight (she wasn't). Grossmont Sucks :icon_evil:
:icon_eek: We/I were/was flat-*** terrible during my time as a Monarch, but were good in Basketball, Wrestling and CC/Track.
THey re-built it bro, I worked there for 5 years. you know you live in SD when, there's a 7-11, an adult bookstore, and a mexican food place ending in the letter O on every block.
G-mont class of '04. But I didn't like it. U know ur in SD when: Ur SDSU classmate is a stripper, and she's not the hottest girl in class!.. U go 2 TJ just for tacos (or other "tacos" if ur in dat mood)... U know what TJ means... Santucky? Its more known as Klantee... U've gotten splinters and neck spasms on the rickety roller coaster on Mission Beach... U go to PB on ur 21st (PB Bar and Grill)... Made out on Mt. Helix... Surf at the beach, snowboard in the mountains, and go quadding in the desert all in the same day/ weekend... claim ur east co. city is the meth capital of the world (El Cajon last I heard)... I'm making these up as I go.
We were pretty lousy, but we were sure we were gonna get our first district win vs 1st year school, Santana. But, alas, it was not to be. We lost on their Homecoming Game night. :icon_eek: Jesus :icon_sad:
OMG I haven't thought about a Sir George's Smorgasbord in a long time. My mom still has pictures of all of us with the big suit of armor they had by the front door. Sorry to tell you that the last one I remember was in Oceanside and it went out over 20 years ago. God I'm getting old :icon_eek:
12. You've tailgated at Qualcomm Stadium, and for bonus points, also tailgated when it was Jack Murphy Stadium. er,... does "you've sat on the slab to watch the chargers only championship" qualify... ... you remember when Mission Valley was farms... ... traveling from OB to MB was an all day event... ... you remember the Q's.... (they were easy to forget) ... you shagged fouls at Westgate... ... when you could still surf at Pescadero... and No Surf was an all day hike and climb... ... you know who Jack Murphy was...
no ****... he must be cryin to see what sad state of affairs the city has become... we could use a civic LEADER like that dude... forever, it'll always be "the murph".... PS... you know who the Padres were a farm team for in the PCL... hell, you know what the PCL was....
How many 'sides me, Ron n Trumpie remember the chopper hovering inside Balboa Stadiumta dry the field, so the Chargers could host the '64 AFL Championship Game versus the Buffalo Bills and Cookie Gilchrist?? Or was it '65?? :icon_shrug: Do you remember Gramps?? :icon_huh:
I remember Sir George's as well. The last time I went to one is in 1986 in El Cajon. It was for my Birthday and in 1987 it closed down. Great memories there. I miss Sir George's.
Is it true that mosta the drive-in theaters in SD went the way of Sir George's?? :icon_eek: :icon_sad:
OK let's not forget those of us up here in the North County San Diego. For up here the key words were Rainblow, Frogbutt, Pissta, San Mucus, Escondildo, Oceanslime, and Carlsnads. You had to be from here to know: - where to find the red haired boy. :icon_high: - what the term "Green Gold" means. - when the O'side Pier was the longest on the west coast and know how the many chunks have been knocked off it since. - you had a school field trip to see the Vietnamese refugees on Camp Pendleton for Social Studies in the early 70's - you snuck in the trunk of someone's car to get in the Oceanside Drive-In and walked around to watch more than the movies you came for. It will always be the Del Mar Fair to me, just like Hill Street in Oceanside will always be Hill Street not Pacific Coast Highway 101. I could go on forever. Definitely a cool thread to bring back some cool memories
Good onya CG369; I plead total ignorance for most things north of Clairemont Mesa Blvd :icon_shrug: Although I do still have many fond memories of the Del Mar Fair
BTW, my brother lives in Kearny Mesa on Ashford Ave, in a cookie-cutter house my uncle built in the 50's. On one end of Ashford in Kearny High School, the other end empties into Clairemont Mesa Blvd, where there's a small park, a Lutheran church, and a mosque.
I think there is just two Drive-In Theaters left in San Diego and they are the South Bay Drive-In and the Santee Drive-in.:icon_sad:
 yup, the Q's were easy to forget... except for Wilts last 10,000 gals... :icon_rofl: http://www.remembertheaba.com/San-Diego-Conquistadors.html omg, the San Diego SAILS... :icon_huh: O MY, I had forgotten that I saw Dr. J light it up in the Sports Arena... I swear he could dunk from the free throw line....
