Alright, so what would be you dream or ideal off-season? Lets try to keep it within reason, so no Peppers, Ray Lewis, Dawkins, etc type of deals. My ideal/dream off-season. - LT re-structures his contract to free up more cap space. - Sproles re-signs to a reasonable deal for both sides - Re-sign Rivers, discuss re-signing Merriman - Sign a solid FA at a need position, someone like Crowder, Jones, or even a Mike Brown. - In the draft draft beef, unless a great talent falls to our lap. - Cut Wilhelm. Those are the things I'd like to see, I'd love to see Merriman re-signed but I'm not sure AJ would be willing to do that with him coming off injury. I know some have said they wanted Lewis, but I think Crowder would be a much better fit for this team, plus he's younger and cheaper. A Merriman/Crowder/Cooper/Phillips LB corp would make me very happy.
LT restructures Rivers signed long term Merriman signed long term Trade Matt Wilhelm Sign Vernon Carey and Bart Scott and Sean Jones Draft at least one running back and alot beef
secure sproles, retain LT, sign rivers and merriman... spectacular rehab for LT, Shawne, Cro and Rivers.. good camp in which Rivera's philiosophy becomes firmly ingrained into the psyche of the defense... studly beef for the right side of the O-line (draft or FA) solid replacements for Igor and Wilhelm (draft or FA) compress draft, camp and preseason into the next week and fast forward to opening day...:icon_shrug:
Good luck. Right now, you might get a pizza for both of them. I wouldn't give up on either right now. Both have been good in the past so I don't believe that both can permanently crumble in one season. With Ted gone and Merriman back, I think we'll see the real Chargers defense return!
cut wilhelm restructure LT franchise tag sproles resign rivers draft Moreno sign Carey,Scott,Brown,Huff i am going to do like the Chargers are and hold off see how Merrimans Knee holds up this year then try to work on a deal if not tag him for 2 years straight
To everyone who wants Vernon Carey to be signed, the Dolphins have already stated that they intend on keeping his services by signing him.
Doesn't mean Carey will sign with them, and if he does then we might need to move on to another target Oh and I forgot one; sign Chris Canty
The CBA gets renewed and 2010 is not a capless year in which teams like NY and Dallas outspend the rest of the league.
* Sign Adrian Wilson * Release Wilhelm, Hart, commiting to going in a different direction.. * Lock Rivers up to a longterm deal. * Beef in the draft
I so totally on board with your dream off-season  I can't even think of other things I want... [besides signing Lewis, Peppers and Aso-whatshisname from the Raiders so Jammer can slide to Safety... ah dreams...] this would be enough
I win 10 Million dollars and buy a sweet RV and start to plan the College and Pro seasons in a Fall Football Caravan across the USA watching football kinda like John Madden.
I said try to keep it within reason. Obviously it'd be nice to get pro-bowlers everywhere and re-sign all of our stars this off-season.
Alright fine, Re-Sign Merriman, Rivers, Cro, Sproles Sign Julius Peppers Reconstruct Castillo and Lt's contract Let V-Jack/Igor/Goff walk. Cut Wilhelm Draft Maualaga/McCoy I'm estimating that we have about enough in Cap space soo Idunno how this might work but i'm hoping it will.
That alone would take up all the cap space to be had. But if you want to sign Peppers, better be prepared to cut Phillips, because that's the position Peppers wants to play. Plus if you sign him, good luck getting Merriman to sign a long-term deal. Both of these guys want contracts that would make them the highest paid players at their positions. Add to that contracts that would keep Rivers, Cromartie, AND Sproles around for the next 4-5 years? Good luck.
Excellent OCS and training camp where our defensive unit becomes nightmarish. All of our players heal and a clean start in the new season. AJ rolls up his sleeves and cut's the dead weight, re-works LT into a new contact, at least get Rivers and Merriman signed, get beef.
