your worst draft predictions

and gloat if you had good ones

Like some of the reporters ou there, let's make fun on our own draft predictions of the past

My worst:
I wanted L**f instead of P. Manning, I wanted Mike Williams and Winston Justice (I know, I'm a USC fan)

EDIT: I also liked Alan Branch (2007 DT from Michigan)

My worst are the same as yours...word for word.

My best: I was really happy about the Vincent Jackson pick and thought he could become what he became. Even though he got injured his first couple years, and people were criticizing him.

I wanted Carl Pickins over Junior Seau. :icon_eek:

I'm gonna gloat because I wanted us to draft Sydney Rice WAYYY before Buster Davis.....low and behold 3yrs later.

I'm gonna hang my head in shame over wanting OT Winston Justice and DT Pat Sims.

I also had very high expectations for Terrance Kiel, Fanoti, and Damion Macintosh.

However, a pick I was high on was Darren Sproles, and he's turned out ok.

I wanted Robert Gallery instead of Rivers or Manning.

I wanted vick over brees and tomlinson:no::no::no:

I did not want Cro or Merriman. :icon_shrug:

But.... the worst is wanting Leaf over Manning.

I wanted Merriman, but wanted nothing to do with Cro, especially not with a 1st round pick. The guy didn't even play the whole year before he was draft if I remember right.

I wanted Robert Gallery.

And yes I too wanted Leaf.

Although I love Rivers, I still don't think a QB was needed that draft. Brees had a horrible line and LT was his only weapon. During that off season, they replaced all 5 of the o-linemen, gates became a stud in year 2 and we traded for McCardell in week 7, and all of a sudden the Chargers went from #1 pick to playoffs. in one off season with the same QB.

Gallary was definitely the wrong pick, and it is a good thing I wasn't the GM, but that doesn't mean that we needed a QB although over time it has turned out very good for us

I make no excuses, I flat out suck when it comes to the draft. I don't pay much attention to college football or the players coming out 'cept for the few schools other than USC I like to watch, which is mainly SEC fb.

My worst was Philip Rivers

I said he was a joke and would never make in the NFL and was being overrated because of his college production and was just another Tim Couch or Kliff Kingsbury

Others - TroyP (though he was overrated and would have a short career due to concussions), Boss Bailey, David Terrell, Bryant McKinnie, Kevin Jones, Jabar Gaffney, Thomas Davis, Mario Williams (thought he was a great player, but not #1 pick material)

My Best

In 2004 I said we didnt need a QB and that Drew Brees would be a stud if we just got him some help and that he would be a pro bowler if drafted LARRY FITZGERALD!! with the #1 overall pick in the draft. I told anyone that would listen that he was the best WR prospect to enter the league in 10-15 years and would be an instant superstar. To this day, i dont think ive ever been higher on any prospect at any position. Now i know its easy to predict that a guy drafted 3rd overall would be a good pick, but i already had the guy in the HOF before he played a game, and seriously almost cried when the cards took him at 3.

Others - LT, Drew Brees, Sidney Rice, Chad Ocho Cinco, Shaun Phillips, Troy Williams, Antonio Cromartie (told everyone before the draft he was an overrated workout warrior), and while he hasnt proven it yet, CHARLIE WHITEHURST!!. Called us drafting him in the 3rd round, and said he has starting potential and would net us a nice draft pick after a few years.

I remember wanting Winston Justice like many of you. Alan Branch was another on my radar. Gallery was supposed to be 'all that' too.

Having said that last year when it came to our pick I was screaming Oher, Oher, Oher!!!. :icon_evil:

Larry has alot of work to do to help me get over it. :yes:

Whitaey proved himself in that he got us more picks. Larry fitzgerald. I love priv but larry woulda been nice if we held on to brees.
