    Celebration time

Fullback Mike Tolbert will likely celebrate making his first roster on Saturday. Friday night he got to celebrate a touchdown on the opening drive of the game. Unfortunately the celebration went a little too far as he was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct, but Tolbert explained there was a meaning behind his celebration.

“My nickname is ‘Yogi’ and that was my bear dance,” Tolbert said. “I was just having a little fun.”

Tolbert caught three passes on the opening drive, including the Bolts’ first score. He didn’t see much action after that.

“I was a little disappointed I didn’t play more because I feel like I still have more to prove,” Tolbert said.

Then Tolbert was reminded that players who are going to have prominent roles in the regular season often head to the sideline early in the preseason.

“Maybe that’s a good thing then,” Tolbert said with a smile.

Yeah, Tolbert made the roster, there's no way around it. He has the potential to be an elite fullback but what is funny is he looks like an old school fullback but plays like a modern day one. That could make for one hell of a threat. That dance was hilarious and the referees are punks for calling it unsportsmanlike conduct. If that's unsportsmanlike so is Merriman's lights out dance and even LT's ball flip, which I get super pissed over opposing team players knocking down when they walk by him and I don't know why.

I don't think Mike Tolbert celebration went a little too far as he was penalized for unsportsman like conduct...

Maybe the Refs thought he was going to start eating the grass :icon_shrug: and we all know you are not allowed to use props for your celebration

The dance was funny and not unsportmanlike. But Yogi said
he will never do it again. I listened to the interview on
chargers.com video and liked the guy from the first sight.
Wish he can step into Lo's boots and be a modern FB.

It wasn't that the celebration was excessive, there is a rule that you can't go to the ground during your celebration... A.K.A. the "No snow-angel" rule

I watched that interview. First, what is up with one of the parents who came to watch the game complaining that most players refused to sign an autograph? If that was something else, let me know becuase it sounded like a mad black woman.
Second, he reminds me of Darren McFadden up there. He presents himself as a charismatic leader yet humble superstar. He's not boastful like Darren "I have the edge on any running back" McFadden.

It was kind of hard to hear, but I think it was a new reporter who was upset because nobody was giving her a chance for an interview, but Tolbert stopped and talked to her.

To be honest, it's probably because the vets know most of the reporters, at least their faces, so they didn't stop for someone they didn't recognize. Tolbert, being the new guy, probably didn't know any better and stopped at the first person that he heard.

I'd like to think he's just a nice dude though.

This guys is going to be very effective. If he is blocking for Sproles, the defense will have trouble spotting either one of them, since Tolbert only about 2 or 3" taller than Darren. Could make for some interesting misdirection plays.

His dance was funny! What was even more impressive was the drive and his pass catching! I love Michael Turner, but after seeing Mike Tolbert, I'm a fan! He's a throwback runner who does not shy away from contact. He's deceptively quick and it looked like the 49ers were caught by surprise at how fast he is. His making the team is well deserved!
