If Foley was that intoxicated, he needed to be off the road ASAP

Yeah it does and Foley stating the dude had a BB gun should have alerted the cop he was not taken seriously.

I think the SOB was trying to get some payback for his homie who got his asss kicked by Foley 4 months prior.

you are right, only a rookie wouldbe willing to go out of his way when off duty to try to get an unsafe driver off the street. :icon_mrgreen:

IMO foley was a drunken idiot, the officer was probably over the top, but I am still on his side as he was trying to do the right thing where as foley was breaking the law and driving around with a dealy weapon.

If he had killed someone because the officer decided it was not worth the trouble after foley ignored the forst stop would you sblame the cop or foley? I would guess the dead person family would blame both since the cop should have done something.

True, but when you are trying to stop a dunk, and one with the demeanor of Foley that is just bad written all over it

The Aaron Mansker that left Palomar JC in August couldn't possibly be the same Aaron Mansker that joined the Coronado PD in August. Or could he?:icon_confused:

I am not defending Foley's actions, I am just saying the way the cop handled it was not the best way.

He knowingly was dealing with an impaired person and everything he did smelled of car jack. Now, I don't know if he called in and inquired about the registration of the vehicle, but that is usually sop if you are tailing someone. He had plenty of time on his 15 mile drive to get that info.

So, he should have known who he was dealing with. Any priors, etc.

I think he would get prior convictions, but not the arrests

never calle din the VIN so did not know who he was dealing with I heard. He reported status and location, but the radio for a coronado officer does not work directly with sherrifs or CHP so the dispatch had to relay all info as he kept changing jurisdictions. But I heard he had no idea who he was following.

thats how I understood it as they were trying to get a marked car to assist the entire time. The news just said that the cop had decided to call the chase off when he went around foley and got trapped in the culdesac.
