I didn't see this already posted.

    NFL's All-Overpaid team

    Offense:

    http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/pgStory?contentId=8919868#sport=NFL&photo=8919766

    Guard: Mike Goff, Chargers
The decline in Goff's play and San Diego's running game go hand-in-hand. In retrospect, the Chargers stuck one season too long with the 32-year-old Goff in the starting lineup (playing Jeromey Clary at right tackle didn't help matters either). Goff, who is earning $2.5 million in base salary this season, will be allowed to leave San Diego via free agency in the offseason.

    Defense:

    Linebacker: Jyles Tucker, Chargers
Chargers general manager A.J. Smith has thrived signing players to long-term contracts long before their rookie deals expire. Smith, though, has never taken as big a gamble as this preseason when signing Tucker a five-year, $14.7 million deal that includes $6.5 million guaranteed. Tucker had played as a backup in just six games as an undrafted rookie in 2007. But Smith thought Tucker had potential to become the heir apparent to the injured Shawne Merriman, who is set to leave via free agency after next season, and wanted him signed long-term. The jury is still out on Smith's assessment. Slowed by an early season hamstring injury, Tucker has a pedestrian 4.5 sacks and hasn't come close to filling Merriman's shoes.

Must be rubbish cos Luis Castillo didn't make it. He should have been the first name on the team sheet, followed v closely by Matt Wilhelm and Stephen Cooper.

Giving guys like Hardwick a mulligan for now.

Oh, delighted to see DFlo made it, what a POS.

Tucker's not getting THAT much in comparison to other linebackers, so i'm not sure why he got this. He's not earning his salary for sure but its not as horrific of a waste as Castillo or Wilhelm

    Surprised?

You only read half of what anyone writes.

You comprehend half of what you read.

And then you BS your way through 100% of a debate.

So this is par for the course.

Agreed... a guy making $14.7 million a year might be grossly overpaid. Tucker hasn't lived up to the contract... but to call him one of the most overpaid in the league is ****ing stupid imo.

    Did I sound surprised?

I thought the title said something else, so I reacted. I guess you two expect me to feel down on myself or something. All I can say is "sh*t happens and I think it's pretty funny." Sorry to disappoint you.

I read it but I misread the title.

What I do is read between the lines. You guys go strictly by the states but just remember what AJ's justification was about hiring Norv... look past the stats.
Though in this case it was an utter failure BUT It's still good to look beyond the stats. Just because someone doesn't agree with you, that doesn't necessarily make them wrong.

    Anyway... have a nice weekend.

I was wondering how long it would take you to make that Norv's fault too.

    You are predictable and hilarious!

You think GOTHFABIO4LIFE actually comprehends HALF of what he reads? I think you're being generous.

Hey, what's funny is: this actually IS AJ Smith's doing and B4L's mishap is keeping this from turning into an AJ hate thread. This is actually where it's warranted.

Who are u referring to?, castillo or tucker or someone else?.

If it's Castillo I look at it like this. When he got his contract he became the 5th highest paid DE in the NFL. Think about it. In the Chargers scheme his job is to take up blockers and let the LBs make the plays. He's also expected to pressure the QB as much as possible (which he v rarely does).

    All agreed on that?....

OK then. Now think of the impact of the real DEs in this league and compare em to Luis. Were we to goto a 4-3 for example Luis would become a DT and a very average one at that. He does not have the tools to become the prototypical DE in the NFL.

The guys I am talking about are Dwight Freeney, Osi, Jared Allen, Aaron Kampman, Peppers, Derrick Burgess..........

Do u get my drift?. Most of em are paid less than he is!. CRAZY.

Giving Tucker that kind of money was a bad move. I like the guy but no AJ you out-played yourself on this one.

In fact get Merriman back in there and Tucker would put Philips-like numbers from a year ago.

AJ gave Tucker that big extension as a message to Merriman. I don't think it's worked. He shoulda kept the money to pay Shawne for a new contract.

    We're so screwed. :icon_sad:

To say Tucker is overpaid after only 1 season as starter is kind of quick, **** this is only his 2nd season, you don't say a player is a bust after only 2 seasons.

If they wanted overpaid there's a lot of other guys that could of been there over Tucker (Castillo, Wilhelm to name 2)

    so true.

I think there are only a handful of guys on this team who have lived up to their paychecks this season.
