<img src="http://www.sf49ers.com/nm_files/Image/coaches/manuskysub.jpg" title="Greg Manusky" alt="Greg Manusky" align="right" height="205" width="220" />The San Francisco 49ers have confirmed that head coach Mike Nolan has hired Chargers linebackers coach Greg Manusky as the defensive coordinator.

Manusky joined the Chargers in 2002 from the Washington Redskins where he spent one season as the linebackers coach.

Manusky spent 12 years as an NFL player, playing in 113 consecutive games during his career, a streak that spanned more than seven seasons.

Manusky's playing career included stops in Washington (1988-1990), Minnesota (1991-93) and Kansas City (1994-99). In each of his six seasons with the Chiefs, Manusky either led or tied for the team lead in special teams tackles.

After retiring from the NFL in 1999, Manusky spent the 2000 season as a volunteer at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' training camp where he worked with the linebackers and special teams.
