Just a few final stats I thought was interesting.

13-3 (2nd best team record in their history)

Chargers #1 in total points in AFC with 454 (#4 in NFL)
Chargers #1 in total PPG average in AFC with 28.4 (#4 in NFL)
NFL record 20+ points in 22 straight games

Chargers #6 in total points allowed in AFC with 320 (#11 in NFL)
Chargers #6 in total PPG allowed in AFC with 20.0 (#11 in NFL)

    Kaeding 32-35 FG's 50-51 XP 146 total points

    Rivers 65.2 CMP 4,254 yards 28 TD's 9 int's 104.4 rating

    VJ 68 rec 1,167 yards 9 TD's 17.2 avg.

    Gates 79 rec 1,157 yards 8 TD's 14.6 avg.

    Floyd 45 rec 776 yards 1 TD 17.2 avg.

    LT 730 yards rushing 3.3 avg 12 TD's, 20 rec 154 yards 0 TD's

    Sproles 343 yards rushing 3.7 avg 3 TD's, 45 rec 497 4 TD's

If Rivers absolutly had to play the final game past the first quarter, like the way Favre played with Minnesota having something to play for, I think he could have added to his stats, to help his MVP case, since Brees sat out, and Manning played only the first quarter with an interception. Favre helped his cause having to play sunday putting up very good stats.

I also found it funny that there were 17 starting QB's in the 2009 season that had more passing attempts than Rivers. Just think if he had 85 more attempts like Manning, or 79 more attempts like Brady, or 45 more attepts like Favre, or 28 more attempts like Brees. He'd have much better passing stats, than the great year he had. But I guess those teams had to throw more for whatever reason. Voters should take that into consideration for MVP.

No way Rivers doesnt win MVP. He is 5 points higher than Peyton in QB rating. He is the highest in the AFC. Theyre not giving it to CJ. Its a no-brainer.

    Peyton wins the award.

I'd bet a full paycheck on it.

since all temas play 16 games, what's the difference between total points scored and PPG (points per game) ? :icon_shrug:

(I know what an average is, just pointing out that team rankings would be the same)

    I agree.

The Colts' two last games are a direct illustration how important he is to their team and deserves the NFL MVP.

When Peyton plays badly or little to none, the Colts' offense stalls miserably and they lose.

I would put Favre over Manning, since Favre was 12-4 a division title, and #2 seed, along with some better stats.

    Favre 4,202 yards 68.4 cmp% 33 TD's 7 int's 107.2 rating

    Manning 4,500 yards 68.8 cmp% 33 TD's 16 int's 99.9 rating

The Int's and passer rating which is important, is better with Favre.

But all those people who had Manning in the media a month or so ago, have really jumped on the Rivers bandwagon, and with the Colts backlash recently, I think Rivers has perhaps picked up some votes that might have went to Manning.

If Favre really won it, would anyone really be surprised???

I think Rivers stock has really risen in the last 4 weeks.

That's because the Colts are a 6-10 team without him. They have been like this the entire time he has been with the team. Does that mean he is MVP every year?? No IMO, but by your argument, he should be MVP every year since the Colts suck without him.

This will be his 4th NFL MVP when he wins it this year. So, yeah, the league pretty much has him in the running for NFL MVP every year.

Yeah, Peyton is a lock. Curtis Painter made sure of it.

We're gonna look back at this era someday and say..."****, why didn't Philip Rivers win 2 or 3 MVP's." and its gonna be because damn Peyton Manning.

The Colts say that about the Patriots, that's why they got out of the AFC East IMO. :icon_rofl:

It is him or Brady at the start of every season. Someone has to take it away from them or it is theirs by default.
