Yeah... but Sid's skeleton might strike fear into the hearts of the players.

I mean... who wouldn't be afraid of THIS yelling at them on the sideline?:

Marty got this team as far as it would go under him, there was no more. That is well chronicled in his past coaching history, he couldn't win the big one. Why or who fired him doesn't really matter, Norv is in the cross-hairs.

Also Norv Hired Fat Teddy. As he also hired his HC job rival Ron Rivera.

I can admit I still love Marty as a badass winning NFL HC. But I deffinatly dont realy see him coming back and competing for that title as long as Shannahan or that Seattle most next winningest HCs... Holmgren lol. Took a minute not ez to recognize the seahucks for anything great..

Also AJ drafted PR. Marty was very happy with his Drew Brees/LT chemistry. Also I was reading the releas of Cleo Lemon wout consent with Marty was a major contributing factor to the thorn... no BAMBOO Reed that grew between Marty and Dean/AJ.

The truth was in the links. I'm well aware his record was better than the seasons proceeding his arrival, I posted them for reference.

I'm sure AJ Smith/John Butler had nothing to do with that, right?

    Marty.

18 playoff appearances, 5 wins and 13 losses. 27.8% winning percentage in the playoffs.
    1 and done 9 times.
Ended his career on a 5 game losing streak in playoff games.

Maybe...but what teams did he take to the playoffs? Washington, Kansas City and Cleveland! All ****** teams that he took to the playoffs!! He took the Browns to the playoffs twice and lost too John Elway & the Broncos...not bad at all.

Noyt many coaches have won the superbowl and there are some damn fine coaches that have never won it...and Schottenheimer was probably the best of them! I would have that again anyday!

    1. John Elway was not that good.
    2. Yes, Schottenheimer is one of the best coaches to never win the Superbowl. He's also one of the best coaches to have a miserable Playoff record which I say disqualifies him from the 'great coaches' category altogether. So no, I do not want that again and if the next head coach starts drawing comparisons to Schottenheimer's predictable play calling, I'd be against his hire.

It makes no difference. He had the contractual right to hire who ever he wanted, and with him going into a lame duck season, he wasn't getting anyone good since they know that it would only be a 1 year job. He had to get someone who knew it was only a 1 year job, and was OK with it.

Nothing, but no one uses a posters comments as their proof like you used Bleacher report as your proof. Bleacher report is a complete joke, and to use it as your proof is just ridiculous

He never took Washington to the playoffs.

Clevland, KC and SD. So your argument is all those teams sucked and that is why he sucked so bad in the playoffs? That is a weak argument. He had teams that were 11-5 2x, 12-4 2x, 13-3 2x, 14-2 1x. Teams with those records do not suck.

Scratchnz is at least a little bit right. There are a lot of great coaches that have not won the super bowl, and there are some bad coaches that have won the super bowl. Marty may have not won a super bowl, but the way Norv coaches this team, he will not win a super bowl either. Marty may have not been the answer, but Norv definitely isn't the answer either. We are wasting the bets years of our elite QB's prime on a completely unrespected coach that was the fastest coach in the history of the league to 200 loses. Let that set in for a second. 200 losses.

The Browns hardly sucked when Marty coached them.

Same with KC, and again with the Chargers.

You can credit Marty all you like for coaching teams to respectable levels (and he'd deserve that credit) but the fact remains that by the time the team was good enough to be perennial playoff contenders with him he'd blow it in the playoffs.

No matter how you spin it 5-13 is a horrible playoff record.

Really, if you think about it, 5-13 says the whole story about Marty. It says he was good enough to make the playoffs 13 times in his coaching career, but shows that he was pretty horrible once he got there.

    I just had a look...

    Regular Season 90-98-1

    Playoffs 4-4

Pretty poor record really, and I know Martys record is 5-13 but that means he still got to the playoffs alot of times to get that poor record.
