    NICK CANEPA
At Raiders / WIN /Cha-cha Oakland takes 3 steps back.
Titans / WIN / Tennessee never has won here (0-4).
Falcons / WIN / Atlanta’s overrated, as usual.
At Chiefs / LOSS / Arrowhead’s a very hard place.
At Saints / LOSS / Still have to think Saints are better.
Broncos / WIN / Manning easier on Bolts than Tebow.
At Browns / WIN / Bolts refreshed off a bye.
    Chiefs / WIN / K.C. isn’t winning here.
At Bucs / WIN / Tampa Bay stinks.
At Broncos / LOSS / Mile-high advantage. Brutal.
    Ravens / WIN / Baltimore crab-caked here in 2011.
Bengals / WIN / Bungals can’t score enough points.
At Steelers / LOSS / Pittsburgh? In December? Chargers lose.
Panthers / WIN / Newton has to eat more figs to win here.
At Jets / LOSS / Tebow time. Close to Christmas.
Raiders / WIN / Bolts are division champions.
    Record: 11-5

    KEVIN ACEE
At Raiders / WIN / They’d better; Chargers fans are out for blood.
Titans / WIN / Ninth straight victory over Titans.
Falcons / LOSS / Big test for new defensive coordinator John Pagano.
At Chiefs / LOSS / Chiefs defense is too good.
At Saints / LOSS / Drew Brees and Darren Sproles? Those guys are awesome!
Broncos / LOSS / Boos threaten to drown out Gruden gushing over Peyton.
At Browns / WIN / Perfect opponent to come out of bye against.
Chiefs / WIN / Desperation helps in must-win.
At Bucs / LOSS / Bucs closer than they appeared in ’11.
At Broncos / WIN / Mile-high air brings out best in Chargers under Norv Turner.
Ravens / WIN / Old on defense. Flacco on offense.
Bengals / WIN / Once again, a late surge under Turner.
At Steelers / WIN / Chargers defy history here, and the tease continues.
Panthers / LOSS / Cam Newton leads four drives to the 1, Mike Tolbert takes it from there.
At Jets / LOSS / Tim Tebow, Mark Sanchez? Fact: Sanchez is 2-0 vs. Chargers.
Raiders / WIN / The Raiders are back to being the Raiders.
    Record: 9-7

    TIM SULLIVAN
At Raiders / LOSS / Battle of attrition won in the trenches.
Titans / WIN / Surround Chris Johnson; make Titans throw.
Falcons / WIN / Atlanta burdened by short week after Monday night in Denver.
At Chiefs / LOSS / This despite the quarterback differential.
At Saints / WIN / Assuming Roger Goodell sanctions Saints players, too.
Broncos / LOSS / Broncos could run the ball before they added Peyton Manning.
At Browns / WIN / Weather should be mild; opponent should be soft.
Chiefs / WIN / K.C. should show up bruised for Thursday game after playing Raiders.
At Bucs / WIN / Who gets the ball to Vincent Jackson?
At Broncos / LOSS / Oxygen deprivation exacerbates defensive woes.
Ravens / LOSS / Baltimore defense nears point of too much mileage, but not there yet.
Bengals / WIN / Bengals revert to being the Bengals.
At Steelers / LOSS / Pittsburgh 8-1 against Chargers since Dennis Gibson batted down that pass.
Panthers / LOSS / Last year, Cam Newton arrived ahead of schedule. This year, watch out.
At Jets / WIN / Team Dysfunction should have come apart by this point.
Raiders / LOSS / Pride and poise leaves Bolts bloodied and bruised.
    Record: 8-8

I think the lesson here is that the Chargers are looking at 10 wins +-4. I think the Chiefs are looking at 7 wins +-3, the Raiders are about the same. I think the Broncos are looking at 8 wins +-6.

If our 3rd down defense goes from 32nd to say 20th, and our offense plays exactly the same as last year (Rivers 20 INTs included) I'd guess 1 or 2 more wins from last year. If our 3rd down defense improves, and Philip Rivers improves, I'd say 10 wins for sure.

Of course it all hinders on one mans ability to prepare this team to play well right out of the gate, no more FG fests in September and October.

I think that most teams have a range of +-3. I think that our coaching staff gives us a range of +-4, because you just never know which team they're going to put on the field. I put the Broncos +-6 because if Manning is great they'll be an amazing team, and if not they have nothing behind him.

I think the Patriots probably have a range of 13+-2. They also probably have the easiest schedule of any team in the league.

I am not as worried about Denver. Manning doesn't really have a WR that scared us--thats because we now have Royal!!!:D
Kc could be a scary team, Raiders went down again. SD takes the west but how far in the play-offs?

I think a healthy Chiefs team is going to do better than the credit you're giving them, Ikeman. We'll split the series with them but they're better than 7 +-3. Especially if they add a guy like Kuechly, DeCastro, or even Poe.

They have lots of talent, probably more than us as far as the starting 22 go, but Matt Cassel without Charlie Weis is enough to sway me to Ikes side on this one. The offense will be predictable and clock management will be a joke if Romeo has any say in the matter.

We could realistically split all of our division games.

It's certainly possible - but I think we sweep Denver, lose the opener to Oakland, & split along home field lines with KC.

If we do split then 9-7 or 8-8 could be the reality.
Until we actually see how good KC, Den, and Oak are, we are just pissin in the wind.

The word of these local hacks is nothing but speculation. Could anyone research what they said about the Chargers last year? I found a rare photo of these esteemed writers together at a recent journalists convention...

In 2010 they had 10 wins with all of their "stars" healthy. I think it's safe to say that they'll most likely split their divisional games, and then lose at least 2-3 games between the AFC N and the NFC S, and they're also playing a significantly improved Buffalo team @Buffalo, which is why I capped them at 10 wins. If I wanted to give them a more generous cap, I'd say 8+-3, but I definitely don't see them with 12 wins.

You do know that Decker and Thomas are both very good young WR's, right?

I definitely think that 11 wins is a valid prediction. They've gotten more experienced on defense (and now have Crennel to scheme it for an entire season), they're OL is improved with the addition of Winston, they've added a younger bruising RBin Hillis (who will have something to prove), & there in a very good draft position to add an impact player like Kuechly or even further strengthen their OL ,DL, or pass rush.

The worst thing that they have going for them is Cassell & all he should need to do is not screw things up.

Even so, you'll only get so far with a game manager of a QB. How many other QB's like Dilfer ever won a Super Bowl?

I realize that....... just saying that KC still has a QB problem. You can argue that even the Raiders are better at that position...... the Broncos and Chargers go without saying.

Then just say that & don't muddy the water talking SB. Even my wife (the KC fan) realizes Cassell is average at best.

    Instigator. :p

Presumably, every team has the goal of winning the Super Bowl....... perhaps, the Chiefs are merely content with winning the division once in a while. ;)

Horse pucky. How many teams actually rely on a rookie to get them over the top as far as their record, with the possible exception of a QB?

That's about as moronic as giving up on a draft pick after the first year.
