Chargers projected roster (preseason Week 2)
By Kevin Acee and Michael Gehlken

As a checkpoint to chart roster movement throughout training camp, Chargers beat writer Michael Gehlken and columnist Kevin Acee are updating the 53-man roster and depth chart during training camp.

This fourth version, which comes after the preseason opener, remains a work in progress.

Position battles — particularly those involving players who contribute on special teams — will continue to sway this depth chart over the next several weeks. Depth at offensive tackle and cornerback also remains in the balance.

Some changes have been made already, based on conversations with players and coaches, the distribution of reps during practice, and injuries.

    Why wouldn't Garay play NT?

This roster works for me mostly, would like to see a better backup for Philip though

Because he's always been undersized for the position, and at his age he's better off using his quickness at the DE position.

At times you are far too quick to give the correct answer.

I would prefer a composed rhythm, catchy riff, then the biting solo.

Lol I was joking. Just saying how hard it is to make money in the music industry (are jokes better when they're needlessly explained?)

Oh, I'm fully aware of how hard it is for musicians to make a real living. The majority of them are lucky to make a living at all from music. Most need other jobs just to get by. Hardly a glamorous lifestyle.

Except that he started at NT last game.
I'll go with that over Acee.

Yeah... I was wondering the same thing. We've over a year invested in Schilling, would be surprised to see him let go. Corey Lynch is an interesting one. I reckon it's between those 2 and Cesaire for that last spot. The rest of the roster I pretty much agree with. I like Spurlock over the other wideouts and am happy with the makeup of the LB crew.

Hester will make the team because of the man love for him from AJ et al. Not sure he deserves it though. Having said that it is not like Battle has impressed in the backfield yet. If Battle was to do something as a RB and continue to do the business on STs then I'd let Hester go. Hester offers nothing as a RB and for me is too slow on STs.

I haven't been keeping up with all the changes so I really don't know if all this just means the Bolt's will have a few extra guys on the injury list. I thought the roster or the taxi squad was increased this year but I really can't remember at this moment.

It's funny you mentioned Battle and Hester they were on my mind during my initial thought on my post. I just figured Hester is going to make it because of his ST play alone and in a pinch can carry the ball or block for Phillip in an emergency. It will be interesting to see how this team rounds out and some guys that get cut will definitely be picked up.

Battle was only a fleeting thought as I don't recall him even being in last weeks game.

He had 1 carry, he was hit 4 yards behind the line and then muscled it out for only a 1 yard loss.
