    San Diego Chargers

It was clear in the first minicamp under coach Norv Turner that tight end Antonio Gates will not be the forgotten man, as he sometimes was under former offensive coordinator Cam Cameron. Turner, who will call offensive plays, broadened Gates' repertoire of routes. Turner seems intrigued by how good the offense can be, and Gates is at the center of his plans for making it more potent. Creating options for Gates will confuse defenses and should add a dimension to the offense, which led the league in points in 2006. Turner is intense, demands excellence and pushes players beyond what they were doing.

    Oakland Raiders

Last season's blocking scheme didn't work because offensive linemen struggled to grasp its nuances. So new offensive line coach Tom Cable is scrapping it in favor of a zone-blocking scheme. One tenet of zone blocking involves players double-teaming a defensive lineman, which sets up the possibility of the so-called "cut block." It's a practice used by a few teams, and one the Raiders say they will use to their advantage. The players practiced it at the team's recent minicamp.

    Denver Broncos

Team officials believe wide receiver Javon Walker is doing as best he can under trying circumstances. Walker was sitting next to Darrent Williams when Williams was shot and killed on New Year's Day. Walker has been a consistent participant in the offseason conditioning program and coach Mike Shanahan went as far as to say Walker has been leading the pack. Physically, Walker is well ahead of last year's pace, when he was rehabilitating from knee surgery. He has been involved in throwing and catching sessions twice weekly. He is engrained in the offense, so he can concentrate on individual improvement.

    Kansas City Chiefs

An interesting decision is ahead at safety, where veteran Greg Wesley and young Jarrad Page and Bernard Pollard are competing for starting jobs. Coaches would prefer to go with youth and start Page and Pollard, who were rookies last season. But Wesley has the experience the team will find vital as it tries to incorporate several new defensive players. Attempts to trade Wesley before the draft were unsuccessful. The team could release him, but it's not a good decision to let him go for no compensation. Jon McGraw is the only other experienced safety, so losing Wesley would leave the team perilously thin at the position.

Good to see we will be using Gates in new ways; at the very least it will force other defenses to game plan for Gates going deep and will definetely cause them to not put so many people in the box.

Raiders going to cut blocks, gee what a surprise

Blah blah blah. Translation: "Our O line sucks, so we're going to try to cheap shot our way to mediocrity." Good luck with that. Just one more reason to hate the Turds.

That was pretty dumb, our O-line was only bad like that for one season and it was becuse of shell. weve got new linemen and a scheme you'll see how improved it will be soon but im not going to get cocky with it.

So, instead of teaching them how to block properly, they're going to learn how to cause injuries.

Did Uncle Al and Shanarat Bastard kiss at a party or something? The Raiders can cut-block all they want we are still going to absolutely demolish that o-line.

Gates had 924 yards receiving in 2006. Averaging 13 yds per catch. 9 TDs (10 the previous year). I hardly say that he is a forgotten man. I just think he got overshadowed by LT last year.

I dont give a rats *** how many points we score per game, as long as we win. I'll take a 3 to zip Super Bowl win any day. Just as long as we pound the AFC West in good fashion, I'm happy.:bolt2:

Ask any sports fan in the country, nay sir, on the planet, whose heard of the NFL, to name a player and odds are it will either be Peyton or LaDanian. LT blots out the sun for just about everybody else on the team, except may for Shawn.

It was like a soap opera with Dr. Arnold Mandell in the directors chair. I was at a champaigne breakfast one game Sunday in Mission Hills and Dave Costa was there at six in the morning swilling bubbly. He was dressed in a genie out of the bottle costume, with a lameĀ“ turban and guilt stars and shiny red half moons stuck to his face, a red velvet cape on his sholders. As the morning progressed he began hurling empty bottles off the the balcony for a considerable distance out into space. I asked him "Hey, man, don't you have a game today?" Between big sips, he replied, "No sweat, I'll just eat a bunch of speed". They lost to the Raiders, 27-17.

See it seems to me if you've spent decades building up your rep as the bad guys, and consistently were near the top of the league in penalties every year your might not want to go to a morally questionable blocking scheme. Especially when you know that you are not going to get the benefit of the doubt ever with the refs:icon_huh: But on the other hand it does seem to involve alot of hurting people and laying down in the right place at the right time so who knows.:icon_shrug:

I just know I'm gonna be pissed as hell if the break Igor's ankles.

Yeah. Try being one up here in LA when the raiders were here.

That was a hell of a lot of fun.
