Many people know that the AFC is the stronger conference.

However, there are some NFC apologists that feel that the NFC is just as strong but that their records aren't as good because the NFC teams spend their time beating each other up, and that the parity within the NFC is such that there are few teams that are 8-3 or better.

One only need to compare the interconference records to see that the AFC is indeed the stronger conference. Furthermore, the AFC West is the strongest division versus the NFC by a slight margin over the AFC East.

    After the Week 12 games:

AFC East - combined 9-4 versus the NFC (69%)

AFC North - combined 7-6 versus the NFC (54%)

AFC South - combined 9-7 versus the NFC (56%)

AFC West - combined 7-3 versus the NFC (70%)

Overall the AFC is 32-20 versus the NFC.

In addition, in Week 12, regarding all four games that featured AFC vs NFC, the AFC team won.

    Tennessee beat the NY Giants
    Indianapolis beat Philly
    Miami beat Detroit
    New England beat Chicago

Hands down Chicago is the best NFC team. Dallas (doing better than I thought they would) and New Orleans are a close second and the rest are just mediocre if not less. Seattle may choke out of the playoffs should they hang on.

I cannot see how the AFC will lose the Super Bowl this year except for major injuries or something really bad. Teams like Baltimore, Indy or the Bolts can easily handle any NFC team.

I always knew the AFC owned the NFC this year. Just didn't know the actual stats. Thanks Slugster!
