    2011 Draft Team Needs - CBSSports.com

I just find it funny that is says we only need depth at OLB when in reality, outside of Phillips, all we have is depth. We need another legit starter because English, Applewhite, and everyone else have proven that they are nothing more than backups

I think the jury is still out on Applewhite. Agree on English.

What jury? I think its clear by now the guy is an average/stopgap player. He's not going to all of a sudden turn into a star player 3 or 4 yrs into his career. He's capable depth, nothing more.

We prefer the term "rotational players"........ it sounds nicer than backups. ;)

Yeah, you should try it more often. It could keep you from mentioning a scrub like Applewhite as someone who has even the slightest affect on AJ's draft decisions.

I don't know if its just some natural SDSU bias around here, but I remember having this conversation with someone last year. I think people kinda root for him as a local guy rather than acknowledging the player he is.

He's valuable as a rotational player..... you need to keep the OLB's fresh to stay effective in pressuring the QB. Applewhite hasn't shown that he has the ability to ascend beyond that role. Not everybody can be a starter.

The judge should dissolve that jury for incompetence.
Don't hold your breath waiting for Applewhite to be a regular starter, you need all the air you can get for your pirouettes. :D

I don't think either has shown they are even close to being starting caliber, and should be considered as nothing more than depth/backups

OLB is worthless if we can't get a dominating NT. Especially since Rivera is gone. Get the beef A.J!
