The NFL has released an update on the fan portion of the Pro Bowl voting process. The fan vote makes up a third of the process along with players and coaches votes.

The following is a look at the AFC West players who are currently in the top five of the fan vote:

Tight end: Antonio Gates, San Diego, second place.

Tackle: Ryan Clady, Denver, fifth place.

Fullback: Jacob Hester, San Diego, second place.

Defensive end: Richard Seymour, Oakland, fourth place.

Outside linebacker: Elvis Dumervil, Denver, second place.

Inside linebacker: D.J. Williams, Denver, fifth place.

Cornerback: Champ Bailey, Denver, first place; Nnamdi Asomugha, Oakland, second place; Antonio Cromartie, San Diego, fourth place.

Strong safety: Brian Dawkins, Denver, second place.

Kick returner: Darren Sproles, San Diego, first place; Eddie Royal, Denver, third place.

Kicker: Nate Kaeding, San Diego, fourth place; Matt Prater, Denver, fifth place.

Punter: Shane Lechler, Oakland, second place; Mike Scrifes, San Diego, fourth place.

Special teams: Kassim Osgood, fourth place, San Diego.

I'd think it's only the AFC

VJ has to be there but he's not that well know by the fans, he'll get there with the coaches' and players' votes

PR probably won't make it with Manning, Brady and Roethlisberger playing well (how many QB go to the probowl by conference?)

I understand that, but this was any player in the top 5. If this is only AFC, I can't name 5 QBs from the AFC who could be leading fan voting over Phil.

    other fans don't like Rivers

I'd guess Manning, Brady, Roethslisberger, Orton  and maybe Schuab or maybe even Flacco or Sanchez :icon_shrug:

This is NOT how I would vote, it's how the voting might look like

You know he's leading the way for the 32nd ranked run game in the league when they vote you for the pro bowl.:icon_tease: Hell it was Tolbert leading the way against the Eagles when LT had his best game of the year.

Also why is Cromartie on this F'n list? Jammer is sooooo much better than Cro this year.
And Kassim hasn't done **** on special teams.

So add Jammer, Rivers, and Vjack. Take Hester, Cro and Osgood off......and we're cool.

This list was just for the players who are in the AFC WEST, and where they are currently ranked in the AFC voting.

It's a bullshit list, with Hester in 2nd place, and Rivers, and Jackson, not in the top 5 at their positions.

But remember, coaches and players vote, and fans votes don't immediately mean you made it 100% for sure.

Rivers put up MVP caliber numbers last year and didn't make the pro bowl....I'm not shocked by any of this.

I thought Rivers bowed out last year? Are you sure he did not make it? I thought Cutless came in as an extra.

I certainly may be wrong...but that is what my homer memory tells me.

Pro Bowl is such a joke.

No one from the Chargers is going, because we will be getting ready for the Super Bowl.

Cutler was voted in BEFORE Rivers. Simply because the Broncos were 8-5 and the Bolts were 5-8 at the point in time. If Rivers was asked after Cutler, or someone else, he declined. I don't remember the 3 QB's who went (Manning, Cutler, and ?)

I'm still voting whenever I can for deserving Bolt players. Hopefully the coaches and players will acknowledge VJ, and Rivers, but Rivers might not even get alot of coaches votes. I guess it depends how well the Bolts are by week 13. I just want to see my Bolt players voted in who deserve it.

I don't really care if they play in the game or not, just want them to get the recognition they deserve.

Guys, we all know the Pro Bowl is a joke but the fact that Philip is 5th in AFC voting is sick joke.

I've just out a request on my Facebook to all my friends to try and get this BS corrected. It'd b great if you could all do the same.

As in he has a big game to play the following week?. Too right.

But he needs to get some recognition, who the hell are the 4 QBs in the AFC ahead of him right now!??.

    Peyton and who else?. Jeeeeeeeeez.

Yeah, while I'd rather not see Rivers in the Pro Bowl, I find it an injustice and a testament to the lack of integrity of football fans/pro bowl popular voting that he isn't among the top three or four in the online voting.

This is kind of very stupid. Like why are some of these players up there? Troy Polamalu? Great player but what has he done this season? He's played 5 games. Cedric Benson higher that Chris Johnson? Has Champ Bailey done anything either? This just reaffirms that people don't even pay attention(for the most part) and just sort of go with the flow with whoever's popular/winning, not necessarily who's the best. I realize this is kind of an obvious/inane statement but it's just sort of annoying especially cuz there's more deserving players by far.

or jammer. Which proves the voting for these pro bowl things is nothing but hype and not much substance like all voting procedures produce.

I think Rivers is 5th in total votes among QB's in the entire NFL, not just the AFC, but I could be wrong.
