Well... some of the arguments during the season are pretty silly too. Probably more so if you want to cite anything that remotely resembles the B4L / Norv model.

True .... but at least they're usually somewhat related to the actual game of football & not the dissection of what makes up the "best" fan experience.

I know .... drop the ticket prices to $25. Bet the place will fill up pretty quickly.

It is like 10 cent cans of beer will solve America"s problems. If that were the case Dubya wouldn't have survived his time at Yale and the world would be a better place. :D

There is one regular here that brews his own beer. I have no idea what it costs.

Maybe an online auction of unsold seats would be an interesting concept with $25 as the minimum bid.

The futbol club I supported in the U.K. didn't issue paper tickets. Everybody who wanted in had an "access card" and your ticket was electronically applied to that. You would hold the card to a sensor at the turnstile and it would let you in. Hard to sell those on because the cost of replacing the access card would be prohibitive. And if you kept reapplying for cards... it wouldn't take the club long to figure you for a scalper.

Well thank goodness for the continued US resentment of socialism!!

And everybody else not patterned after their own image. A famous Bollywood actor got the rubber glove treatment recently and the Indian government was not impressed. A Nexus card with your life history embedded with it is probably the lesser violation of your personal liberty than having Homeland Security elbow deep into your rectum.

No argument here. My socialism comment was, of course, tongue-in-cheek.

Most US citizens wouldn't recognize socialism if their social security check bounced. ;)

Come November, with a government authorized to mandate anything it wants so long as they charge a fine for noncompliance, we've got about a 50% chance of finding out ;)

Sweet. The topic has shifted to politics.

With the rationale for the decline of NFL attendance being put off to people having less disposable income... the path to politics is a very short one indeed.

Not likely. The game was rigged long ago. If you think that either "winner" in this next election is going to change anything of real import for the majority of us, I have a sweet deal on some waterfront property for you.

You seem to have the more intimate contact with the Raider fans. I have no idea what they know of profess to know.

IMO nothing compares to the tailgating experience.

My best memories are from the 2006 season when I tailgated in three consecutive weeks in three different cities. Baltimore, San Diego (vs Pittsburgh), and then San Francisco. In Baltimore me and two friends and fellow Charger fans showed up and were welcomed by both Raven and Charger fans alike. At home the folks here were welcoming as always. The coordinated invasion of SF was awesome as anyone who was there will agree. Locals pulling into the one section of the parking lot were greeted by a mass of Blue and Gold and I am sure they thought they were in the wrong place. Being loud enough in the stadium that the Chargers players knew they had more than just a few fans at that game.

I realize the costs with going to game prohibit many from going and I certainly do not see enough games live but with the tailgating and camaraderie of the fans it is worth it. Nothing can replace that feeling.

I think it will affect the name of our country in the future. Which do you prefer, American Democratic Republic or Christian American Empire?

Oookay - preemptive strike - how about we pause a moment and hop back on topic before we have to move another thread to the political section.

Feel free to start a new thread over there and continue the discussion - by all means - let's just try to keep things football related in here tho. Thanks! :D

Do you think the Christian American Republic or the American Democratic Republic will do more to encourage NFL ticket sales, and why?

Ikeman... you will know that East Germany was officially named the German Democratic Republic (GDR) oder auf Deutsch... Deutsche Demokratische Republik (DDR). I don't know what the American Democratic Republic would have in common with the former German one... other than the bad roads and pollution maybe. I also don't know if the CDU or CSU behave much like Christians... so I'd say your second choice is the better one.

Sorry, my most recent post had a typo, it should've been the "Christian American Empire", and yes, I am of course familiar with the formal name of the former East Germany, as well as with the current formal name of North Korea, and I wasn't drawing a parallel to the CDU or the CSU. Rather, I was saying that an invasive government tends to grow into a police state, and whether that state claims to be "socialist" or "fascist", the outcome, other than the name, is, much as Buck said, the same.

I am, however, still curious, as to whether the Christian American Empire or the American Democratic Republic will be more inclined to support waning ticket sales.

    Yet again.

Wouldn't it be nice if instead of people who disagree with the original political statement having to bite their tongues as to keep the thread on-topic, not moved and not closed, we could boot out the first person who introduces politics into a football thread? I think a "who threw the first punch" punitive boot off the thread would go a long way towards keeping football at the center of football threads.
