The Saints went to the NFC Championship game and the Chargers did not.

The one core player he did not retain landed up starting and taking his team to the NFC championship game. Next season, AJ's decision could be right but this season it wasnt.

1 2(2) Reggie Bush RB USC STARTING LINE UP
2 11(43) Roman Harper S Alabama STARTING LINE UP - before he got hurt
4 11(108) Jahri Evans OG Bloomsburg STARTING LINE UP
5 2(135) Rob Ninkovich DE Purdue STARTING LINE UP - before he got hurt
6 2(171) Mike Hass WR Oregon State - CUT
6 5(174) Bernard (Josh) Lay CB Pittsburgh
7 2(210) Zach Strief T Northwestern great pick, backed up Jamaal Brow really well.
7 44(252) Marques Colston WR Hofstra STARTING LINE UP

got stinchcomb and faine - both started all 16 games.
got hollis thomas, fujita, shanle and simouneau.

trumpy, he changed the team around and made the right moves for his coach.

How the hell are you basing the GM's performance otherwise if you do not include player signings?

That is integral to a GM's success or failure to create a team.

Even if you wanted to use the season only, do you exclude signings/trades before Game One or signing of the draft picks ? Go ahead and exclude signings after the season if you wish to be fairer (I guess but do not agree).

Even if you want to look at the season ONLY from kickoff to gun sounding to go sit our assses home after sudden death, we won 14 games to their whatever....

This does not mean I am not happy for the City of New Orleans. Many people got jobs to re-build the biitch who were on the damn dole or the lamb. I suspect the feel good story saturated media and the fans to say "ahhhh...isn't that sweet"

    Pfffttt....Shiit.....earn it otherwise fuc 'em.

So using your logic, Loomis signing Drew Brees should've counted for LAST SEASON'S award? Or does it count for both years?

AJ Smith will get props for retaining Dielman if it translates into postseason success in '07. It had absolutely no bearing on 2006, and rightfully doesn't factor into his merits for Exec of the year.

Yeah, the same Reggie Bush who is going to get his alma mater sanctioned for taking money and houses and hoes before he got to the NFL.

Reggie Bush is going to make the Bengals line-up look like choir girls after the police blotter catches up with him and his good buddy PacMan Jones.

Marquis Colston will be right behind him hitting the crack pipe with Chuck Muncie.

    PS... crack...crack is bad

I didn't know that Drew also played defense and ST, thus preventing the 3 defensive and one major ST blunder that cost the Bolts the game had he still been a Bolt.

As I said, playoff losses do not mean dick to me.

If we win it all next year, these last few years we came close and ate **** just means that **** burger tastes a bit sweeter now because we never gave up faith and we now have something to show for it.

Do you think the Colts feel like **** they finally got the gorilla off their backs after Manning choked historically in the playoffs?

Do you think anyone will try to ram it up the Colts assses for ALL those losing post-seasons now that they have shown they could win it all ?

    I don't.

Take ANY 12 month slice you wish (ANY SLICE OF TIME) and A.J. has been kicking all the GM's asses around the league.

If there is anyone who is emulating Pioli of the Patriots, it is A.J. Smith.

A.J. is now out Pioli'ing Pioli.

The Patriots were notorious in getting players to play for undermarket value contracts for the good of the "team" during their Super Bowl run.

Move over Scott Pioli because there is a new billy big balls on the block and it is our very own A.J. Smith....and not Marty Loomis.

for smith to out pioli, pioli would require for us to win 4 championships to his 3.

A GM is coronated "the man" on what he did then, now and how he is set up for the future.

Yeah the award is for last year but it does not mitigate the fact "the man" is only as good as his foundation and his system.

    Screw you.

At least we made it a game, instead of getting pasted 39-14 by a team that consists of a defense and Devin Hester. Thanks in large part to a quarterback who pretty much lost the game singlehandedly with three turnovers all by his lonesome, scoring two points for the Bears in the process. As if the Bears needed any help slapping the Saints silly.

At least we beat the Pats black and blue, so bruised and exhausted that they were all out of gas for the Colts two weeks later.

    The Saints just got splattered.

Once the NFC South finally figures out how to blitz Drew Brees, it's going to be far rougher sailing.

    Have a nice day.
