According to Tim Kawakami the 49ers are done with Smith's act. How stoked (or non-stoked) would you guys be to see us make a run?

I'd be shocked if we made a run at him

He's a headcase - I want him as far away from my team as possible and for his own sake, in therapy or something to get his **** together. He's thisclose to throwing away his career and ending up behind bars.

I'd be stoked if he came here. Our Defense would actually be legit and on it's way to the SB.

    Let's see...
    1. He has TWO DUI's in the past 27 months
    2. Facing Felony gun charges
    3. Said he had a BOMB when going through the TSA line at LAX (which is ANOTHER felony).

Add all that up and it screams "YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID".

I don't think he's a headcase - just monumentally stupid (like the troglodyte type of stupid that people want to make Clary out to be). That said, it's becoming increasingly apparent that he has no desire to change. So, in what I feel like is the question being posed in the topic post - No, I wouldn't want to see us make a run for him in terms of trading for him. The guy needs to finally get slapped by harsh reality and suffer consequences for his actions before anything's going to get through his thick skull. I'm not saying that guys aren't capable of rehabilitating or turning their lives around, but sometimes they've got to get scared straight first and, for the moment, there is no fear of God in Aldon Smith.

Would I be opposed to "making a run at him" and giving him a second chance, say, after he's served whatever prison sentence he may be facing (more so for the Federal weapons charges he has hanging over his head as opposed to this yelling "bomb" situation)? Sure. Why not? We have, or appear to, the kind of locker room that can build a guy back up after he's been torn down. But the tear down needs to happen before the former can.

"bong" can often sound very much like "bomb".
    give him a break.

Could be worse. He could be Amanda Bynes mistaking a bong for a lamp.

HAHA that reminds me, a coworker of mine once called the police because he saw what looked like a pipe bomb taped to the back of a customer's house. The bomb squad showed up, destroyed it with their bomb disposal robot thing....and it ended up being full of weed. :roflmao:

He's the Lindsay Lohan of the NFL

So talented but there's not a big or sturdy enough stick to beat the sense into him

Not sure if I agree with this particular analogy. It implies that Lohan has talent.

That and... have you seen Lindsay Lohan lately? Hard to argue that someone hasn't already beaten her with a big, heavy stick. Yikes!

Yes! Let's pick him up before any of the other 31 NFL teams find out (and the CFL too) and it should only cost the team several million which I am sure some of the players are willing to give up part of their salaries for such a class guy. He would be an asset to our Defense, and has promised that he will not bring any explosive devices in his gym bag to work.
