Norm was always a very underrated OC, and it looks like USC is assembling a star-studded staff that could keep some (if not all) of its recruits.

Saw it on ESPN's Bottomline--Shelley Smith is reporting it, but I have been unable to find a link, either.

    EDIT: ESPN's link was updated

"In another part of the blockbuster staff changes, a deal is being worked on in hopes of bringing longtime offensive coordinator Norm Chow back to USC in the same capacity, sources close to the school told ESPN's Shelley Smith."

    So yeah:

    HC: Lane Kiffin
    OC: Norm Chow
    DC: Monte Kiffin
    Head Scout: Ed Orgeron

I would take this for my NFL team in a HEARTBEAT. This staff sadly puts many, many NFL coaching staffs to shame.

I've always respected Norm Chow. He's done some great work with the QBs he's worked with. Wish someone would give him an opportunity as the HC.

It would appear that USC is in even better shape that they were under Pete.

100% agree with all of the positivity--which is exactly why I felt he was worth his own topic. He was a big, big cog in the championship-caliber offenses to complement the stifling defenses of SoCal's heyday, and the fact he has never been given a chance to be a HC anywhere is a crime.

USC will now be the biggest power house in the NCAA. The BCS will have the Trojans as its champions.

I love the Hire of Chow being the OC for USC.

Norm is going to build Superstars for years to come for the Trojans. :icon_party: :abq2: :abq1:  :icon_banana:

Congratulation USC for the best Hire they have done in years.

At first I didn't agree with the choice of Kiffin as head coach, then the other hires started rolling in and now I see the plan.

If USC can keep Matt Barkley all 4 years, they'll be a top 5 team by his senior year.

It's all derailed by that "Lane Kiffin" part, though.

What? Still no plans for Mitch Mustain? :icon_rofl:

I'm laughing at Mustain, not USC

He needs to go back from where he came from. Was it Arkansas? :icon_huh: Either way, I don't know why he thought he could win the #1 QB position at USC.

He can stay rotting away on USC's bench. Arkansas is very happy with Ryan Mallett. :icon_rofl:

(Now, if only we can get a defense and a kicker)

Watch it all get torn apart when the NCAA hands down a "No Bowl Games or Tourneys for 2 years" suspension.

That will have all the recruits running to other schools faster than you can say "NFL Draft".

Yeah, Chow rejecting the offer to join is a bit surprising, although he and Lane usually failed to see eye to eye when they were on the same USC staff as offensive coaches years ago.

good for chow. he don't need that coc sucker kiffin. I think questionable play caliing after chow left cost sc at least one more title. thank god cuz I hate usc. I also think that program is gonna get slapped w/ some serios sanctions & that's why carrol was so eager to leave. just a hunch

Norm Chow was just on the radio saying he's not leaving UCLA.
