    to quote from today

"double x 1090 has CONFIRMED that Ryan Mathews WON'T be there when the Chargers pick at 28"

not that he might not be there, but rather it's confirmed he won't be there (BTW apparently NE wants him at 22)

    So ?

Michael Turner would have had a ****** year behind this line as well. We need a right tackle and someone who can play swing tackle in case McNeil goes down.

How quickly fans forget Leander "turn stile" Jordan !!! :censored: :banghead:

WTF is wrong with most of you people if not all ? :icon_huh:

On second thought, forget that last sentence. I do not care to hear about your oedipus rex syndromes.

The two teams that are rumored to want him are Houston (20) and New England (22). The pick makes no sense for EITHER team. Houston plays in the same division as Peyton Manning, and their #1 corner is QUINN GLOVER.....I know. They will go corner or saftey guaranteed, hoping to land Gerhart in the 2nd round.

New England....this could take a while.
WR- Moss is in his last year and could become locker room poison if he doesn't get a new contract and Welker may never be the same.
TE- The only one on their roster is Alge Crumpler.
DE- They still havn't replaced Richard Seymour.
OLB/DE- They have no pass rush...AT ALL.
CB- Their #1 corner is Jon Wilhite, their secondary was their achiles heal last year.
OL- Nick Kazur (RT) is arguably the worst starting RT in the entire NFL.

RB is the least of their worries with Laurence Maroney, Fred Taylor and Kevin Faulk. If they want to go RB Jahvid Best would make more sense.

This is the best news I have heard all day! I will take beef all day and twice on Sunday first rather than a back.

I agree that RT is not a strong position in this team, BUT, the need is bigger in the DLine, RT can be drafted latter, plus, I'd give Dombrowski a shot for one year

You don't draft a backup in the first round, this team has a starting pro-bowl caliber LT

BTW, this thread was about how Hacksaw can confirm what a team is going to do in the draft, not about whether to draft Mathews or not, but what da hell, have at it...

Ranch Cucamonga, Rancho Penisquitos, Poooooway, react to me, if you where THAT GM, would you draft tha RB?

    I'm blipping brilliant!

In my universe, we should be picking an offensive tackle in the first 3 rounds.

    Trade Clary.

He reminds me too much of a T-Rex. Stubby arms. No wing span. No bueno.

Yeah, we'll be fine taking one in the late 3rd. Maybe we'll get lucky and land the next Vernand Morency!:icon_tease:

fine NT in the first, RB in the second and RT in the third

although I wouldn't mind if AJ drafted a gem RB in the 4th-5th round again, and went D heavy at the top of the draft

I know you disagree but I think that the Oline is fine except for RT, just to many injuries/not knowing each other well last year, for most of the year, the only two (side-by-side) linemen that knew each other where McNeil and Dielman

Yeah we all wouldn't mind if he drafted a "gem" in the 4th and 5th. While he's at it he should draft one in the 1st 2nd and 3rd.:icon_tease:

Its boarderline retarded how people assume RB's grow on trees. Guys like Frank Gore and Michael Turner are in the 5% of RB's drafted in their round, and typically they don't come in and start day 1.

first, I thought you grew them like potatos (in the ground, not on trees), second, I know in ALL positions, higher draft picks usually mean better players (that's why they're drafted first)

and C) I do believe that AJ has a knack for finding middle round RBs (can't say the same for high round DBs)

AJ has been able to sit and wait comfortably until later rounds because we've always had LT. This year is different, any RB we draft is likely going to start immediately, and is probably going to touch the ball around 20 times a game.

And what if everyone AJ likes is gone by the late 3rd? Should we take a flyer on a guy like James Starks or or Joique Bell and throw him to the wolves in week 1? Thats a hell of a transition! D-II to NFL in a couple months.

Not a risk I'd take with a guy who's going to have that much impact on how we move the ball.

I say go all 100% pure all beef first, run Tolbert's and Hester's legs off. Our running game can't get much worse than it was last year.
Wilson to H-back if necessary, heck legs may be able to fit that bill also.

Maybe we should move Jammer to saftey too.
And lets move Castillo to NT.
And lets make VJack a TE!
And oh oh! Lets put Kris Dielman back on defense as our new DE, and draft Maurkice Pouncey!

Guess what these ideas have in common with yours.....they're all stupid.:icon_tease:

The only problem is you'd be "reaching". All of the 1st. round OT's will be gone before #28.

well, I did say #NT, #2 RB and #3 RT

but, if AJ goes all defense in the first few rounds and gets a RB in the 4th round I wouldn't hate that either.

nope, your ideas (the ones above) are stupid

the previous poster's have some merit, Tolbert and Hester can't possible do any worse than LT

so, even with a non-existent running attack the offense did pretty well, the defense was the problem, that should be addressed first (although I would like to have a balanced offense with a good hard runner)

I thought Dombrowski was pretty good backup swing tackle. I agree we could use a stud OT to replace Clary.

Mathews is the most COMPLETE back in this draft......the way I see it, if we take him in the 1st we can dedicate every other pick we have to improving our defense.

The idea that "well we couldn't do any worse" is a stupid, ignorant, non progressive way to look at it. The goal here is to take pressure off Rivers from being 100% responsible for the points on the board and outcome of the game.

I'm not opposed to taking Mathews in the first round, I actually don't watch a lot of college football, and I never saw Mathews play, but I trust AJ

My thinking is that the defense needs more attention than the running game (both need a lot of attention)

in essence, I'd be ok comming out of the first four picks with a NT a RB and a RT (in no particular order, best player available)

BTW, you're arguments are decent, you don't have to call others "borderline retarded", "stupid" and "ignorant" to make your point

Why are we even entertaining what the quack predicts anyway? Here's a guy who probably laid odds on Huckabee in 2007.

I wasn't calling anyone retarded, stupid, or ignorant....I was calling their ideas retarded, stupid and ingorant.

I have zero respect for the theory that we can just waltz into the 3rd round and draft Michael Turner v2.0, and that he can produce as a rookie. It is the height of ignorance to believe its that easy, or that we can get that lucky. And I have even less patience for the people that think Tolbert and Hester (who sucks and fumbles a lot) can be our lead backs and it won't be any worse than having LT.

I think Tolbert can be a goalline specialist, I think Hester should be cut, I think going into the season relying on either of them to tote the rock more than 3-5 times a game is foolish.

Sorry I'm so bitter, but come on people.:rolleyes2:

Nobody is entertaing Qwacksaws stupid crystal ball prediction. We're arguing about when the appropriate time to go for a RB is.

Personally I think there is a huge gap between the top 3 (Spiller, Mathews, Best) and everybody else. That said we also need a NT desperately, and I think Cody is massively overrated, so I think he has a good chance to fall to 40.

Anyone a little brighter than a rock knows they cannot guarantee the performance of a running back with a suspect O-line.

The guy is better than Clary at RT but at the more demanding LT spot, I do not see Rivers living for long.
