    All --

Making a little change to the traditional Gameballs thread I post after every game.

"Balls" refers to Gameballs, as is custom. "Birds" refers to flippin' the bird at someone (or someones) who really screwed up.

    So...

    Balls
Tolbert (3 TDs, plus the big play getting a first leading to his second TD)
Scifres - 1FG, 3 XP when pressed into duty
Pass D - Only 39 yards passing for McNabb

    Birds
Special Teams for the opening TD (otherwise the coverage was pretty good)
Norv, for going for it on 4th and 20 from the 25, especially since Scifres nailed a 40 yarder in the 2nd Half. Didn't look like Phillip was all that happy about it either in watching on the ticket.

    Lines are open!

Bird to the coaching staff for failing to realize that we could use some starting players on the special teams.

And a huge bird to Mora for the absolute most pathetic display of cometary ever.
And also the bird to LT. I just saw him pumping up his guys and yelling, showing emotion and leadership that he lacked as a Charger. yaaawn

    Balls: Tolbert
    Scifres
    Manusky (Second half shutout, nice)

Birds: Mora (It's the San Diego Chargers, not the San Francisco 49er's. Worst commentator I've heard
    in a very long time.)
Kaeding (So much for stretching the distance on kickoffs. Managed one play
for the season. Dude is cursed.)

Overall, not bad for an opening week game. My boy Cason has his club removed, am
expecting a little more aggressiveness to the ball within the month.
    Go Bolts!

Takeo and Bob deserves balls. It seems like they were in on every tackle of AP.

Balls: Manusky and the D. Manusky obviously made some good adjustments AND AP only ran for 98.

Birds to the injuries to Kaeding and Castillo. Likely out for the season. Some decisions need to be made, and fast.

Didn't anyone else find it funny that AP said he was going to run for 200 and a W.....And the Viqueens didn't even have 200 yards of total offense??

Balls: Sanders, Tolbert, Spikes, Gates, Manusky, Scifres
    Birds: Norv, Kaeding

I'll give the coaching staff a ball for making good half time adjustments.

Bird to Jim Mora .... '49ers & Daryl Sproles? Just 2 of the gaffes he made.

Agree with most of the rest already posted.

Balls to Tolbert (head and shoulders above everyone else, as Michael Irvin or was it Deion might say PAY THE MAN), Run D and Scifres.

Birds to English (get your sh1t together man), early Pass protection and Jim effin Mora, what a joke he is. So wish I could get Lewin and Bauer on Gamepass. Instead we have to listen to the Network morons who have done no research. Antoine Winfield HOFer after that game according to Mora.

Balls - Spikes (loved his interviews on APs comments, plus game play), Scifres (for stepping up), Tolbert (Ryan who?)

Birds - Norv (can't seem to get a team prepped for game day and has to make 2nd half adjustments), Mora (no more need be siad)

    Birds to the Ref Crew!!!!!

If your going to call a false start then stop the play at the begining of it, dont wait to the very end of it, Castillio broke his leg because of a jackass call!

    Huge Balls:
Scifres - Is it possible to outplay a new signed contract extention 1 fricking game after signing it? Mike is the ANTI-Nate.
Tolbert - Dude is a monster. Please resign him long term, he is so fun to watch.
Defense - Kept AP in check, McNabb had 38 yards passing, LMFAO
AJ - Spike and Sanders made an impact in their first game as Bolts, nice work AJ. Time to work your magic and get us a new kicker, shouldn't be hard to find one better than the last.

    Birds:
Special Teams - I almost vomited on the first play. I would like to go on the record and say that I am glad Nate got hurt and I hope he never wears a Chargers uniform again. He still can't kick it into the end zone AND he got a +5 yd bonus.
Norv for his bad play calling in the first half

it seemed like every single time we ran the ball on first down we ended up punting it away. When he finally started to throw it, we moved it.

The stretch play to the right (behind Clary) that he kept spamming was the biggest "give me a freakin' break" moments. On one Clary actually made the tackle on Mathews by tripping into him, the other times he just got pushed out of the way or whiffed on blocks. We gotta find a way to get more creative w/ the blocking, pulling guys, trap blocks, or something, because it was very blah. Or shoot Clary. I'm fine with any of those options.

Lets see... People not liking Norv's thoughts of going for it instead of punting from 42 out...

Ok... We have millions tied up in QB, RBs, WR,s and linemen, not to mention start TEs... And we have a punter who has not kicked a FG since college, and does not practice it. That said punter is also the holder, so we need a new holder...

And some of yall are bent about not kicking the FG... Otay panky...:roflmao:

Mathews contributed when he needed and showed us what he can do when he is healthy. we all knew that him and tolbert were going to be used a two back tandem

When he needed to? He was the leading offensive weapon with 118 yards of combined offense.

He had 118 yards of offense. Tolbert didn't do much better in terms of yards on the ground. 3 scores doesn't tell the story my friend, a 1 yard TD catch, a 19 yard TD catch and a 9 yard TD run. Without Mathews gains Tolbert wouldn't have had the same opportunity, just saying.

Lets not make this a Tolbert V. Mathews thing. Mathews quietly had a very good day. Tolbert was the man getting the 3 TDs to put us in the position for the W.

We have issues to fix, but all in all, I think it was a good game but a great second half...:)

C'mon, you know it's inevitable since Mike is stealing all the glory from Ryan by scoring. :D

My favorite was when he said they lost Daryl Sproles to New England.
