Very disappointing performance, especially given that we got some needed help in the early games.

    Balls
None. Nobody deserves one when you get blown out in a must win game.

    Birds
Secondary -- That was pitiful, Calvin Johnson or not.

All in all, a pathetic performance. So begins the winter of our discontent, yet again.

    Happy Holidays to all!

Manusky: For that crap defensive scheme
Turner: For approving that crap defensive scheme

Nothing else in that game mattered.

Balls - Gates and Rivers because they're the only two who played like they cared. Everyone else was going through the motions. It's a shame that we pretty much wasted the career of one of the greatest players of all time by not putting a winning environment around him.

Birds - Everyone else. Goodbye Turner and Manusky. (Well actually no, not goodbye. Screw you guys. You don't deserve a job in the NFL. Go away. Never come back.)

    Balls:
Gates for catching the most passes by a Charger
Floyd for 95 yards & TD
Rivers for trying lead this team and jumping on VJ's case for running the wrong route

    Birds-
Anyone who had anything to do with today's defensive scheme. Seeing Jammer back of 7-9 yards off Burleson (no, not Megatron, but Burleson) on a 3rd & 5 made me want to puke.

    Balls:

Antonio Gates – Breaks the franchise reception record in his own hometown, hoping to see him healthy next season.

Eric Weddle – Was “Johnny on the spot” for us in several situations, especially the play in which he denied Calvin Johnson a touchdown reception, and when he recovered the onsides kick.

Malcom Floyd – 6 receptions for 95 yards, and a touchdown. He’s a real weapon when teams successfully focus on stopping both VJ & Gates.

Nick Novak – The onside kick was a thing of beauty, we have successfully recovered both of his attempts on the season.

    Birds:

Greg Manusky - No pressure on Stafford at all, let him pick us apart for nearly 400 yards passing. 3 sacks on nearly 40 dropbacks, and no timely pressure on 3rd & long, as usual. We let the Lions convert on 9 of 13 third down opportunities, and let them get nearly 450 yards of total offense. You’re outta here, right along with Norv.

Donald Butler - You shouldn’t celebrate a nearly meaningless sack, when your team is losing by 24 points.

    Neutral:

Philip Rivers – Did all he could without much support, only 70 yards rushing on the day and was far behind for most of the game. The pick six was a brilliant defensive play, and the other interception was a by-product of having to pass a lot in an attempt to catch up.

Norv Turner – This loss likely seals his fate, I’d be surprised if Jeff Fisher wasn’t on the phone setting up his assistant coaching staff by halftime. The onsides kick was a timely call, but with our inability to stop Detroit’s offense, it didn’t really matter in the end.

    Balls:

Eric Weddle - the only truly bright spot in the whole game. Weddle's onside kick recovery and fantastic plays in the end zone didn't make it any less of a blowout, but at least it looked good.

Ryan Mathews - He made do with what he had

Antionio Gates - Congrats on the record, but even he could have had a better day.

    Birds:

Greg Manusky - WHAT the hell was that? This team has always had an uncanny way of making mediocre quarterbacks look like superstars but that, that was indefensible.

Secondary - No, that can't all be the softness of Manusky.

Norv - don't let the door hit you on the way out. When we look back at the Philip Rivers era, it will be his fault it isn't more prominent.

Tim Tebow - Thanks for reminding us that the Bolts couldn't even compete in the ********* division possible.
