That contract is the rediculous! 4 years $30 mil with $15mil guaranteed? TO just got an extension that was 4 years $34 mil with $13 mil guaranteed.

Hester is NOTHING compared to TO (Who I can't stand). Hester has less career TD's as TO had last season

This just shows how desperate Chicago is for offense. ANY OFFENSE!

They give 15 million guaranteed to a guy who is a great returner but unproven WR. Couple that with the fact that their QB situation is constantly in flux, does not bode well for the Bears this season.

Too bad we don't play them this year.

Im sorry but the bears need to take a page rom KC, shut it down and go into rebuilding mode. Trade off Briggs, Urlacher and Hester. The team is going nowhere fast and it seems like all of thier players want more $.

Yup, AJ, Ed, and Dean would never be stupid enough to pay that much for a guy who pretty much is just a returner.

Even if he brings you 8 return TDs a year, that's at least $4 million per year you are paying for that.

It makes you appreciate our management much more doesn't it?

Yep. Explains why we're where we are and they are where they are. I still figure AJ will find a way to keep Cro and Merriman.

If Cro and Merriman don't stay with San Diego, it won't be because AJ and Ed don't offer them enough money. It will be because they want to go to a city with glitz and glamour, like New York or Dallas.

The salary cap traditionally has been going up about $7 million per year for the past 4 or 5 years, so, that's one franchise-quality player additional per year we can keep.

That means in a year or two, Merriman can get his big contract, and then Cro the next year.

Also, if the new CBA has a rookie salary structure in it, then we'll see an end to rookies getting $60 million deals, which should help out in signing, although we've been on the lower end of that for several years now. We haven't had to sign rookies to $60 million deals and ignore our vets in the process.
