An opposing scout sizes up each team.

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/football/nfl/specials/preview/2006/08/30/scouts.afc/3.html

    San Diego Chargers

    • Linebacker Shawne Merriman and tackle Jamal Williams get a lot of attention in their defensive front seven, but Luis Castillo, on the end, is key to their success. He's a big body who can really run.

    • Rookie cornerback Antonio Cromartie has the whole package: size, speed and explosiveness.

    • Cornerback Quentin Jammer has never lived up to the hype and doesn't play to his 4.4 speed. I was surprised he got a new contract.

    • Despite his injury, Drew Brees fit their system. I think they'll take a step backward with Philip Rivers once the bullets start flying. They just don't know how he'll respond.

    • San Diego simply can't afford an injury to LaDainian Tomlinson. He's the engine for that team. Without him, everything falls apart.

    • Nice move to pick up Marlon McCree from Carolina. They needed help at safety, and he played well for the Panthers.

Guess he also missed all the Saints preseason games as well. Drew's arm is still fuc'd. He has shown zero velocity and his accuracy has been crap.

Is each of these little reports written by a different opposing scout? They can't all be written by the same guy if it's "an oposition scout."

I'm referring to the very first header at the top of the AFC East page that says: "An opposing team's scout sizes up each AFC team."

I think maybe each of these reviews was by a different guy...

I wouldn't be suprised at all if MT's carries go way up and LT's catches go way up....wish we didn't have to lose Turner next year...

Maybe he got up from the t.v. to get a sandwich when turner made all those amazing runs. I guess he's gonna be kind of suprised.

It sounds like one of the writers put on a fake nose/glasses combo and called himself a scout to back up the same drivel he wrote all offseason.

I hope this so-called scout's team is on our schedule this year.

Jammer is going to blow some door off now that we have a FS who can play the game.

And Kiel has been playing out of his fah-king mind the last few games as well.

We quite possibly could have a top 10 secondary unit now to go with our top run defense. :icon_eek:

As long as he stops playing 12 yards off the receiver and allowing easy 8 yard completions.

    That drives me bananas.:lama

If anything wins the Super Bowl for us it will be the defense.

    That is Uncle Wade's doing.

Jammer likes to man up but phucking Uncle Wade likes for them (the offense) to come to him and then pound away.....

Then the question I would ask is....why?

What is the point on having Jammer play that far off?

What defensive scheme or purpose does that serve?

    I just don't get it.:icon_huh:

When you play this scheme, it wear downs the offensive receivers because they are getting clobbered and do this enough times and turnovers happen.

The thing which makes us play this scheme even more so is the fact we have never had a Free Safety who was worth a fuc where we could man up more often.

When you man up you are more likely to get torched for 6 and this is where you need the safety valve or the free safety to do his job and to be in position. We have not had that therefore we see less press coverage.

Maybe when Cromartie develops over the next year or so to become the LCB (and #1), moving Jammer to the RCB spot, Wade will let both play press coverage.

I see it happening even faster because if Uncle Wade feels comfortable with McCree as the real deal at FS or Hart for that matter - we will see more man'd-up coverages soon....this year soon....game one soon even.

    I'm not buying this one.

You can just as easily clobber a WR playing 6 yards off as you can playing 12.

Maybe it's a mental thing with Jammer because of the weak over-the-top help he has experienced in the past.

I just hope that crap changes this season.

It is almost a bend but do not break philiosophy and come to me as we clobber you. This is another reason teams pile up the passing yards as well (****** players doesn't help either) but it is the scheme.

You see lots of zone and rolling zone coverages plus the occasional 1/2 man 1/2 zone or a Cover 4.

No dude it is all about what do you have over the top for support before you commit to a man-on-man or Cover 0.
