Thats right. Jammer starts in McCreek's spot, Crow takes over at CB. Start Weddle as well.

Jammer is not going to play safety. He doesn't want to, and it hasn't been discussed on the team.

    Yeah .... sure .....

Let's start a guy who has never played safety in the NFL, has to learn a new position and all the responsibilities for playing safety.

Jammer probably will move to safety - in two or three seasons from now ......

You don't make position switches in midseason. You do that in mini-camp and training camp so that player can learn the position.

Ok, Start Jammer. Keep the obviously confused McCree at safety, and the dude that leads the team in INT's on the bench.

Switching from CB to Safety is pretty much the same as fullback to running back. Jammer is a hitter.

Bench Florence. Cromartie has proven his worth.

Watch Jammer's numbers go up with Croman in there.

I'm not a fan of either Hart or McCree, but teams don't make positional changes in mid season because it will hurt. Guaranteed.

I think Cro should start in place of D-Flo, or Cro should continue to be the nickel back and play nearly 60% of the plays like the NFL average for nickel backs. Cro won't be "on the bench," just like he wasn't to start the season. He played 50-60% of the defensive plays, like all NFL nickel backs.

It's not like those are your only two options.

McCree plays a better Safety than Jammer would not having played the position his entire career.

Here's an idea....start Cromartie and bench Florence

    And that's true as well

As much as even I have complained about the apparent decision to not start Cromartie when Jammer returns it's not like he's going to be riding the pine carrying a clipboard.

He'll still see a lot of time on the field.

(Not that I still don't think it's a dumb decision)

Right. And we all know what happens when they try to give Neal the football.

    Good point

Start Cro bench Flo. Flo and Cro flip flop the nickel position. Problem solved.

Like Leo said, start Neal at RB and see what happens.

Safety and CB are different positions, with different techniques, fundamentals and responsibilities. They each have different reads. Learning a new position in midseason is a recipe for disaster.

I don't understand why Cro wouldn't be starting after these last three weeks. Florence plays the nickel receiver, and Cro plays the outside receiver when the offense goes with three wideouts anyways. Cro and Jammer might actually be a decent CB duo.

All the folks I sit by think Jammer would be a great safety, and I tend to agree, but mideason is not the time to make the switch. Offseason.

BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cro at Corner, D-Flo at nickel. Fewer chances for dumb penalties at the worst of times.

I'm not sure the secondary is the biggest problem at the moment. I think we should figure out why we aren't getting the same pass rush as we were last year.

why does everyone think of Jammer as the S prospect?

He is our 2nd best CB and has played pretty well this year

Why not move the guy who is losing his job? I think Florence would make a good FS. He has good size for a free saftey at 6'0 200, hes a better hitter than tackler and has very good speed. I think he would be able to match up with slot guys/TE/Rbs

Why doesnt he ever get mentioned?

Cause his contract is up at the end of the year.:icon_shrug:

I wouldn't mind Flo at safety but he's gonna want the bucks that CBs get. He would be a good safety in time

Yeah but I am not a math matician, but having really the only guy on this football team making plays week in and week out only playing half the time is not smart!

Speed is one thing. Cutting ability, pass catching ability, etc ....

Switching positions in mid-season is only done in an emergency when you are short substitutes because of injury. Moving Jammer to safety would cause problems for him in this defense. If you don't understand that, it's not worth greater detail in explanation.

Finding as many ways as possible to get Cromartie on the field as much as possible sounds like an emergency to me!!!

Great answer!! Jammer plays better when the ball is infront of him. He cant turn for the ball for the life of him. So i dont think it will be that difficult for Jammer to learn the safety position. He is a hitter, a run stopper. I think if this is the ONLY to keep them both on the field, then we dont have anything to lose.
