This after more than one Chargers defender told media after the game that the Bengals didn't do ONE thing in the game that they hadn't studied on tape and prepared for. Not a single wrinkle.

I dont get it, but maybe the owners think Lewis was somehow holding him back... Or maybe they think he will bring in Chucky on the staff...

I actually kind of get it. He coordinated a top 10 offense with Andy Dalton at the helm. Front offices might just be projecting to what he could do with a real franchise QB.

The only team mentioned there with a real franchise QB is Stafford. Locker and Ponder still suck and RG3 was awful this year.

    Good point. A definite possibility.

Vikings and Titans likely try and find a franchise QB and RGIII could still be viewed as redeemable.

Speaking of the Bengals, though, I'm surprised they're holding on to Lewis.

I'm suspicious of any grading standard by which Stafford is more of "a real franchise QB" than RG3.

Me too... Several reports came out yesterday that he was safe, and that Lewis was backing Dalton. I would think that a change of Coaching staff would be warranted after 0-6 in the playoofs (they are play oooofs when you are 0-6)

He's 0-5, but your point remains

Because RG3 has been so good?
Sounds like your buying the hype as well instead of seeing his bad play.

"Buying the hype?" Not sure what that's supposed to mean…
As a rookie, RG3 put up an astonishing passer rating of 102.4 (a scoring system that favors pocket passers)
and added 815 yards of rushing…better than 13 teams' top running back, and a 6.8ypc that no one
in the league--not AP, not Marshawn, not Jamaal--could touch. This is just a phenomenal performance.

This year, he was clearly not completely over the injury, but even significantly hampered,
he had a had a decent season…so his early numbers over just 28 games are better than average.
Stafford's not a bum, but after 5 years he is not improving, he leads the league in losses
despite having the best receiver in the game to throw to.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the running QB model…just too risky to have your most important player
taking running back type punishment. But the idea that one would prefer to try to build a winning team
around 25 year-old Stafford, over 23 year-old RG3, just strikes me as odd.

Sounds like you're buying the Stafford hype instead of seeing his bad play.

Redskins also have sought permission to interview Niners' Greg Roman, Chargers' Ken Whisenhunt, sources say. Not clear yet if they'll agree.

Yes, but I'm sure those franchises don't plan to keep Ponder and Locker.

Im not a big fan of Stafford but he is the best of that bunch. RG3 was awful last year having to rely more on his passing abilities. The tape is out on him and knowing he isnt going to run as much with a knee that wasnt 100%.

To be fair to him, his offense without the running threat was one of the most outdated in the league. The Shanahan offense (heavy on zone stretch, and PA bootleg) is next to useless if you can't play with a lead.

Agree, but that also doesnt guarantee Bridewater or Bortles is going to be better. Bridewater looks to have a high cieling but thats never a guarantee in the NFL. Id assume they both would be better than Ponder and IMO both(Locker, Ponder) were really overrated coming out. I wasnt a Locker fan at all and Ponder...lol, i dont know what they were thinking just as i dont know what Jacksonville was thinking.

McCoy walked into the best QB situtation though many of our own posters thought he was done, lol.

I don't disagree, but I'm really struggling to see your point. Perhaps there was some confusion about what I was trying to say. It's simply this: front offices might by high on a Jay Gruden offensive with a good QB, based on the respectable product he's put forth with Andy Dalton at the helm. Now obviously most teams looking for a new coach don't already possess a good QB, but it's a given that the have-nots are all looking for one.

The good QB is what I'm getting at. And Dalton was the guy Gruden was so high on and he wanted to work with before the draft. I'm just saying of those franchises none have a better QB other than Detroit and RG3 isn't as good right now as Dalton and the guarantee a rookie from this class will be better isn't really there.

Watching Zimmer on Hard Knocks I must say he seems like HC material.

Redskins have hired Jay Gruden per Schefter. So that leaves TEN, CLEV, MIN, and DET.

NFLN: Hue Jackson replaces Jay Gruden as OC in CIN.

TE Coach Sean McVay promoted to OC in WSH, DC Haslett expected to stay on.
