By Tom Shanahan

When the second day of the NFL Draft's sixth round rolled around Sunday, the Chargers studied the remaining players available and decided to draft for depth in the offensive line and length on the kickoff team.
Kansas State offensive tackle Jeromey Clary, the 187th pick overall, was taken as a 6-foot-6, 304-pounder to develop at right tackle.

Virginia kicker Kurt Smith, the 188th pick, was chosen specifically for his ability to reach the end zone on kickoffs and complement place-kicker Nate Kaeding and punter Mike Scifres.

The draft finished in the seventh round with the Chargers using their final two picks. The Bolts project North Carolina defensive tackle Chase Page (6-5, 280) as a defensive end Virginia Tech left tackle Jimmy Martin (6-4, 303) as a center or guard. Page was the 225th pick and Martin the 227th choice.
